Vore Story Cameo

There - Their - They're. Your - You're - Yore.
So I'm going to write a story based off of a game of Dwarf Fortress.
I will be naming Dwarves after people, and making a diary of events that list the fort's founding, its goings ons, and eventual down-fall.
For those of you who know how Dwarf fortress is played; I will not be using bridges for defense, nor copious amounts of weapon/cage traps. I will be focusing mostly towards a military.
So what I need from you all, if you're so interested, are names of people who would like to star in this story. Dwarves will be named for you, and you will be written about in the event that something happens. You craft amazing things, you have a strange mood, you get ill, injured, or devoured, etc. etc.
Inevitably, the story will most likely end in everyone being eaten, but for those fortunate few in the military who like to live dangerously, stand the chance to 'devour' enemies yourselves.
You can, if you wish, ask to have a siege-leader, or a larger-than-normal beast named for you, if you prefer predding, but know that if the military bit works out, you stand the risk of being devoured all the same.
So leave a comment here, on if you want to join up, what name you want for your dwarf 'Repurposed' to whatever you are. And what sort of job you would prefer.
Miners,
wood workers/carpenters
Masons / Stone workers / Engravers
Brewers/Cooks/Farmers/Sheerers/bee-keepers/potters/glass-makers
Furnace operators/blacksmiths/weapon smiths/ armor smiths
Crafters (Wood/stone/bone)
Military (Axe/Sword/Spear/Hammer)
Hunters / Rangers / Trappers
PS. If y'all could spread the word, that'd be awesome. :3

FA+

if you get any big beaky beasts you could name one Racuda :3 he started off as a feral monstery thing after all.
Being a swordsman is easy, just stick 'em with the pointy end.
And yes, I can pred. :3
Also, how do you typically build your military? I'm having a bitch of a time finding anything I can turn to iron, much less stronger materials.
Alternatives are buying out iron things from the caravan and melting them down.
As for my military? I usually wait for my numbers to grow a bit, trade if I have a surplus for good weapons, helms and chest-pieces. I divide the military up into smaller units rather than single large clumps, to increase the rate of sparring, and growth.
Or I throw them in a danger-room. :Dc
For the formations, you bring up your military screen with 'm', you assign them a uniform, (Standard is leather, metal, archer or none) There's an issue with certain jobs not agreeing with the uniform, namely hunters and one other one that I can't forget, who will make giving them armor difficult, so I usually don't bother with archers.
Once you've picked the people for your ranks, you can assign them Armor, either telling them a general level of gear to wear, or specifically pick pieces.
If you want them to train, you need to make armor racks and/or weapon stands, and assign them as training areas once they're built.
And to assign them to attack things, you press 's' then the letter for the corresponding group of dwarves you want to send out. 'k' lets you select targets for them to kill, 'm' lets you station them to an area, and 'o' cancels tasks they are assigned to do. ie; If you told them to move to a spot, they'll station there, and you cancel the stationing order with 'o'
Anything else? :3
You sure there's no way to make it work?
All in all, they're very difficult to do. X3 You can try assigning hunters to a group, with no uniform, but they might just strip off, and try to punch things, naked.
There -are- the ballistas though. X3
I actually made a fortress with a skinny-as-all-fuck hallway, with two ballista at the end of it, that lef into the fortress. Unfortunately, noone was working it when the iron golem showed up.
Role, though, uh...... Could be one of those brewer/cook/tons-of-misc-things maybe? Or a wood worker? Or just stick me in on the military, I dunno. :B
Ritter'd find Hammerdwarf juuuuuust fine, though whatever you think is appropriate'd work too~
I'll make a journal to advertise this, as well. :3
