Fat Physics: Blobs
12 years ago
Right. What exactly do you know about blobs? The super fat furs, not the sentient jello things ... though I guess you could call fat-blobs that too. In this nice lil journal, I'll attempt to (at least what I think is) deconstruct this favorite fetish of ours and point out some mistakes that people seem to keep making.
Blobs, is the fandom's classification for living creatures whose weight exceeds a predetermined level, essentially becoming a "blob of fat". While we do enjoy these things, there are many things that people don't know about blobs. Here are a few;
- Stomach strength and space: In the fandom, furs are often depicted to have super stretchy and super impenetrable stomachs. This allows for a ridiculous amount of expansion from the size of a full grown man to the rest of existence. In reality, stomachs can only hold so much before it starts to register pain from the overload. Even then, there's the apparent fact that stomach can't fit most inedible objects some extreme omnivores (those who eat other things asides edible food) are very much capable of.
Furs would some time argue that they can hold in a massive buffet because they're stomach is just that thick, allowing for a generous amount of expansion. If that's true, then imagine how ridiculously thick the walls of their stomach may be if its empty; it would be so small, there would be barely enough space to fit in one dish. Others say that their stomach are just that rubbery, like it was made of carbon nanotube. Which we all very much know is downright silly.
Another thing most people don't understand is that a bloated stomach looks much different than a bloated belly. The stomach is located just under the lungs and heart, but above the intestines, which makes up most of our abdomen. So, in fact, a bloated stomach should never look like a bloated belly.
- Digestion speed: Another thing about reaching blob-level of weight is to quickly digest food (or what have you) and simply turn it into nutrients (often fat) and quickly sorting it all out into their skin. While this process is true, the speed and unGodly amount of fat stored isn't. For one thing, like all living things, take time to digest. The time taken varies between living thing to living thing.
Digestion (in animals) is the process of breaking down complex combination of proteins and fats into simpler combinations for our digestive tract to absorb. In RP, this process is often at lightning speed or as some writers would say, "at the speed of plot". This defies any sort of biological capabilities. Sometimes, furs will claim that they have full control over their digestion speed. While this could be probable, its still beyond our abilities to do such.
Another thing about this is that furs have the innate ability to absorb, transfer and store all that fat also at the speed of plot. Most fat is store within the skin as heat absorbers and natural dead weight. Other times, fat will just drift within the blood stream (if not other places). Stored fat can also be converted into reserve carbohydrates and vice versa. One of the major problems about this is that nothing within this realm of reality can efficient;y transfer all that fat that fast. The other problem that no one seems to notice is that the skin is not made of magical rubber and does not infinitely stretch based on how much fat you just recently digested.
Much like many expansion fetishes; the skin cannot stretch infinitely based on what ever phlebotinum fuels such fetishes. In this case, the skin and flesh of a being is often stretched and grow based on how much fat is digested. Not true. The skin, like a small tight rubber balloon, can only stretch so far before bursting. That's right, the skin can burst.
One of my favorite offenders of this fetish are those at Eldritch abomination sizes; islands, cities, countries planets yadayadayada. I've explained this in a previous sleep deprived rant last time, but no such sizes should be able to exist. The reasons are as listed above, but the one I ranted about was about the "mass = strength of gravity" problem. The more mass an object has, the stronger its gravitational influence, either on itself or anything around it. Once reaching a certain level of blob, its mass would start to create its own gravitational force. But since fat (or you for that matter) isn't such a dense material; you would eventually collapse into your own gravity. What happens afterward is not exactly known. Either you become a small meteorite of concentrated but dead ... "biomass" or otherwise. Im just gonna forget that crazy rant about how you would implode into a star or something, but Im gonna go with this new idea of mine.
and that's about it really. That was fun to write :D Nice to finally get that out of my system x3
I hope you guys enjoyed reading all the way without going TL;DR. Until the next Fat Physics, bye~~! x3

I just don't like that infinite growth thing.
But that's just fetishes. c;
We want to throw all logic out the window because, well, logic isn't any fun. If we tried to bring logic into our fetishes then the majority of the people on the plant would have the personality and sex drive of a rock.
We don't want to consider that the most is going to happen to us if we stick a hose in our mouth is that we are going to explode. We don't want to think about how impossible it is to go into a buffet at normal size, wipe the place out of food, and then exit the building 10 times your normal size.
So yeah, physics and logic aren't a fun thing to consider when you want to fap :P
For me, it's true that I like some realism in my RPs so food wouldn't lead to such a rapid gain so quickly and usually appropriate actions would follow suit, but if too much realism is used in something so fantasy oriented then the RP/story becomes repetitive, boring, and not really enjoyable for those involved. So sometimes it's good to have some realism in an RP or two, but it's also important for fantasy to take the reins time to time to allow enjoyment for all involved/readers.
I still think blobs are boring no matter the amount of fantasy involved. >3>
In my opinion though, any deconstruction of any surreal fetish is like beating a dead horse. We all already know that expansion like it is portrayed cannot exist, and ultra-fatties have biology problems.
I also don't get why you say that people are making "mistakes" because they imagine or draw what the hell they want. XD
With this mindset, we can call zombie games "mistaken" because there are tons of reasons why a zombie outbreak will never happen. When actually, zombie games are just there to trigger emotions of survival, questionable ethics, and so on.
No offense, but, I'm intrigued. And you got me into that thinking mood.
