Double Rainboom review
Well, I've got to say this was certainly an experience to remember. For those who haven't heard of it, Double Rainboom is an episode length (longer than a standard episode in fact) MLP fan animation. I'd only heard about it a few months ago when a preview showed up at a convetion and I've been looking forward to seeing the finished product.
Before anything else I'd like to give some major props to the crew behind this project. This was a massive undertaking and they deserve all the praise they've been getting. Kudos to you guys (even though I know they'll never see this), you guys pulled off something awesome and showed what a dedicated group of fans can pull off.
So, down to business. What did I think of Double Rainboom? Should you even care?
Well to answer your first question I thought it was really good and I had a blast watching it. True the voice work was a little off, the memes were a tad overdone and the overall story was kind of flat and generic. However, it was fun to watch and it was quite entertaining for what it was. The animation was very impressive, maybe not quite up to DHX's level but still pretty darn good. The surprise twist cracked me up. As silly as it was I can't bring myself to not like it despite how it sort of came out of no where with no warning or hints. Then again, that's what makes it a surprise. Was it perfect? No, of course not. But for what it was, I enjoyed it. And I hope these guys do some more stuff in the future.
Final Score: 7/10
As to the second question; not really no. I just felt the need to give my two cents on something that's been in the works for so long. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, heck I don't expect anyone will even read this, and I'm not here to change anyone's mind. I simply wanted to give credit where it's due after seeing something I enjoyed.
However, I can understand why some fans didn't like it, and if that's your opinion then more power to you. I'm just a little disapointed at how harsh some bronies are being on something that was just meant to be a fun little project. Fortunately the praise and constructive critisism far outweights the more cynical comments. I've been a little worried about the fandom since the Season 3 finale and it's encouraging to see the positive aspects outnumbers the negative. Just need to be reminded of that sometimes I guess.

I think the Power Puff Girls crossover was a bit of a blindside but I eventually warmed up to it and thought it was a good twist. I only picked up on two memes of the whole thing (Trollface and Snozzberries) and I thought they were nice touches (And the smiley sun at the end was a pretty nice touch) I must say however the fourth wall scene was a bit of a cop out, however it worked well and was a very nice touch (Including the part where Pinkie Pie walked through the Flash logo :P) and the portal easter egg at just under the ten minute mark was a nice touch as well (It being the only other one I saw, that and the back to the future reference, the melody when twilight noticed it. And not counting the ones in the black and white twisty dimension thing :P)
Few personal gripes here and there, like how not all of the characters got a speaking role, princesses didn't make an appearance, blah blah blah. But nothing too major. And like you said everybody is different and some people may have downright hated it. \_(O.O)_/
I agree with you on your points, animation wasn't as good as the real thing but lovable all the more, VA was a little off, but then again it almost always will be with fan stuff. It wasn't perfect, but then again nothing is :P
Overall I liked it, didn't feel like a real episode to me, but then again it wasn't supposed to be, and it was nice to see this after 13 episodes of shame in season 3, really raised my spirits, and I hope to see more.
Now he can finally finish work on his "Balled Of Mecha Pinkie Pie" comic ;)
