Buildin' a Sentry--err, PC

Okay, this is something I have always wanted to do. I figure having a MAcbook and a Win 7 Desktoop might be helpful, and I want a gaming rig, though gaming rigs are pricey (I';m looking at you, Alienware).
So yeah, this is something I've always wanted to do,ever since I found out you could; Build my own PC. Order the parts, slap them together, and make a machine truly mine.
Thing is I this is my first time, and I'm nervous. It'll still be expensive, and I am a tech oriented guy so I know how easily I can screw up and how delicate some of the parts are.
I'm a tech oriented guy, and I figure that i can't let my anxiety rule me though. This isn't just about havig a good computer, this is about knowing I can do something.
...Witha little help from my friends though.
personaomega has volunteered to help me, though I'm welcome to any and all help and advice. As long as it's not shit like "BWAHAHA, THOSE PARTS ARE STUPID!" or "Just get X" without telling me why. That's insanely unphelpful.
Also while most of you who I contact/contact me use it, I'll be hanging onto my old Skpye account. If you contact me on MSn, ask for it tomorrow when MSN is finally dragged out behind the shed and shot tomorrow.

I can ask around, my brother has connections as a software engineer. x3
For Nvidia, which I use, I recommend getting it from the company EVGA. They produce excellent cards and their customer service is fantastic. I never registered my original card, and then I was a bit beyond the coverage period (I think if you register they cover 5+ years?) and was freaking out because some memory modules on the card had gone out. I talked to them and they did a one-time RMA and, at no charge, took the card back and sent me a new one. Registered the second card, so it's covered!
So yeah, REALLY nice company.
If your CPU needs additional cooling, I don't know about liquid, but for a fantasssstic fan? Zalman.
My CPU temp never moves up. It's this wonderfully constructed majesty of copper that laughs in the face of mister heat.
I hope to build a new computer sometime or other. I'd really like to phase into a new one in case I start having any failures on here. Can't let my commissions get interrupted! So yeah, good luck to both of us!
1. Simple "It's a scam" or anything like that is actually insanely unhelpful. I 'd prefer to know why a part is bad or good. And what parts I should look out for exactly. Stuff like "It' a scam" tells me nothing really useful.
2. That link appears to be broken or non functional. Newegg coughes up an error message.
I don't mean to come off as rude, but seeing as I'm new at this, I'd like to be fully informed.
