Serious computer troubles

General
So I have been diligently working on commissions, which is the good news!
The bad news is my laptop and only source of Internet apart from my phone is absolute garbage. It has been going downhill since November, and serious DNS failures have plagued my Internet since then. It's not even a 2 year old laptop so these problems shouldn't honestly be happening. I have done everything I can. I thought it had something to do with my Internet at first, so we called out our provider 3 times to look at it. Nothing there, so I went and dumped as scrubbed the DNS information, went through every tutorial I could find. Helped for a bit, then went back to getting DNS failures and disconnecting every 15 minutes.
And the thing is, I can work on Skype and IM fine, as well as twitter. No internet tho. My dad helped me update all my drivers tonight thinking it might be an outdated driver causing all the problems, but the update just made my connection completely unresponsive. It reads as connected, but nothing works. It was even having problems connected straight to an Ethernet cable. Before the update I had to cold restart the computer at least 3 times a day because if it goes iron sleep mode it won't be able to reconnect to the Internet and will get permanent DNS failure.
At this point I am thinking it's a Serious Problem and I will have to get a new laptop. Stay tuned for this one, and apologies for the wait on art, I literally can't do anything without a solid Internet connection. :(

curious! is that a hard line connection or a wi-fi connection?

OP
Wifi. It's the wifi drivers that are fucked. I'm going to try borrowing one of those plug in wifi doodads, that will pretty much confirm whether its my wifi driver and motherboard. If it works then at least I have an answer.

well, normally if the wifi is bad, it wouldint connect at all. have you tried to to a rollback on the drivers? and does the laptop work with a hardline in?

Like a reset to an older state? The wifi drivers are older than the computer, 2010. They were outdated and so I did make an attempt at updating them to a current version. That basically sent the connection into a tailspin and it won't work now. And I'm assuming by hardline you mean Ethernet straight to the router. I have done that and it has worked but it has failed before also, listing dns failure even with a grounded connection.

Hrm that is rather interesting situation. well what i mean by roll back is going to the driver listing on the computer for that specific device on your laptop and clicking on the roll back option to put the drivers back to its older state rather than the updated one. that DNS issue you might be having is quite possibly IP conflicts going on. When you do the Ethernet cord thing, how often does it give you that issue where it cuts you off?

I can say for certainty that its not IP conflict, that was what the cable guy was out at our place three times to check. He ran diagnostics on everything, checked out to see if any of the IP addresses were conflicting, fragmented, or misbehaving in any way, and couldn't find a damn thing. My dad also checked to see if there was anything amiss. This has been plaguing me since November I have literally tried everything short of throwing my laptop out a window

If you have a smart phone, you could try tethering it's connection and see what may happen.

I can use my Internet fine on my smart phone, I am doing so now. I can't do art on my phone tho, and I can't transfer it off a laptop with no Internet.

What I mean by tether is, using your smartphone's internet on your laptop. Easy to do with a program
