When did you become a Furry?
A: Well it all started in the summer of 2011. I had wanted to make a Toothless dragon costume so badly, but at first I didn’t even know where to begin on making one. So I had looked online at other people’s costumes, but being a beginner at costume making, I didn’t want to have to make it very complicated. I eventually came across Cyanine Hybrid’s (Riley) YouTube video on the making of her Shadow Lugia costume. Her style of making costume heads looked easy enough for me to pull off. So over the summer of 2011 I made my Toothless costume. At that time I didn’t exactly know what furry was or anything about the fandom, and I become more influenced by Riley’s fur style of wearing animal ear hats, collars, and tails. I found out about fur costumes and fursonas, and so I made up my own character and wanted a fursuit. Eventually I came to know the furry fandom in more depth by late fall of 2011. I joined Fur Affinity and meet some great fur friends in my area.
Q: Why is your Fursona a Wolf?
A: Well I created my fursona before really coming into the fandom, so I went with one of the most popular animal choice, a wolf. But I also like wolves anyway and she turned out great. :)
Q: Why did you name your fursona Sadie?
A: Well I am a huge Transformers fan and currently I am watching the TV show Transformers: Prime on the Hub TV station. In the first episode (Darkness rising part 1) the transformer named Arcee is a motorcycle in her vehicle mode. She has a holographic human rider for her vehicle mode so it doesn’t look like the motorcycle is driving itself. In a scene in that episode Acree pulls into a parking lot and says “Take five, Sadie,” referring to her hologram in which she just calls Sadie. So that’s where I got the name for my fursona. Here is the clip on YouTube of what I just described: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB3o.....yer_detailpage
Q: Why did you design your character like this? What does it mean?
A: At first it was actually a little hard for me to come up with Sadie’s design, even though she has a basic wolf lay out with no distinct marks or patterns. I just took ideas from others and combined different layouts and came up the design. Coming up with colors was a little harder, finding out which colors best went together and where they would go.
Q: Why do you like fursuits/fursuiting so much?
A: I just love the reactions, and interactions from the people in or out of the fandom, especially the kids. It’s just a different and fun thing to do for parades, fairs, and all kinds of events. Also I love seeing other peoples creations and interacting with other furs.
Q: How many suits do you own?
A: Sadie is my first official fur costume, but I have my Toothless costume as well. In the future I plan to make and commission more costumes for myself and eventually make fursuits for others to purchase.
