Whats the difference between GIMP and Sai?
12 years ago
Well recently I've started trying to mess around with Sai, having obtained my Wacom Bamboo pad and in all honesty....I find GIMP a lot easier to use, I can change the size and opacitiy of the brush/tools I use easy without any shit scrolling crap, which is very frustrating whilst GIMP allows you to input the values. But also I feel that Sai somehow tries to hide everything from you, whilst GIMP just gives it you all on display, feels like I've got more control and not all hidden features because 'they don't trust me' just wondering if anybody has any advice for using Sai.
Not that I hate Sai don't get me wrong, its just very confusing and seems to be over-complicated for something I can do on GIMP easier in my opinion.

The main thing SAI has over GIMP is the tablet stabilizer. You should see something like that named at the top of the bar. Choosing one of the S - # modes and try drawing some line art with and without it on and you will see a significant difference in feeling and look. (Especially for people like me with unsteady hands) There's other features it has, just depends on what you want out of a program.
Ah alright, I'll have a nosy and investigate in Sai what you suggested, thanks for your input
Off-the-topic, Photoshop's intergration with Cinema4D is flawless, so it goes without saying I'm willing to pay for PS rather than use the free GIMP. Plus no Maxwell support in Gimp ^^;
Ah nice! Well its good that they both work flawless together, bet it helps alot!
for examples, I use:
Photoshop (cs6) and Illustrator (cs6)
You can use them both!
I use both sai, and GIMP
The things I really like about sai is the line tool as well the select tool where you can get into the tightest corners or your drawing and you got a larger selection of tools to use, but the thing I don't really like about sai is that you can't type anything and you can't have a transparent background once you finish the drawing.
For GIMP, it's the other way around, I can in fact type words and everything and finish with a transparent background, but I can't do good lineart, especially with a mouse.
Hmmmm some interesting comparisons there, ah right. So each has pro and cons
I now use Photoshop elements 8 and gimp together for awesome results ^^
Nice! Must make a good combination
Uhuh ^^
Here's my first sai attempt (colored with crayon ^^) --> http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10386326/
It looks superb!
