I live with a retired truckdriver... well forced to after the wreck and another one who I scored a local job. Dont expect to be home except 2 or 3 days a week. If you get less than 33 cents a mile and less than 3500 miles a week dont expect to bring much home. It costs a lot to live on the road. The fewer stops you can make the better. Get a cooler that plugs into the ciggerette lighter and load it up with drinks and foods. And your dispacher can make you or break you. I had a friend who was making damn good money on a sugar load springfield MO to Phoenix and back as many times a week as you could legally run. My friend who just took the local job... had a dispacher who was a fuckup. He would have done better working min wage with the shit runs they were giving him. Now he has a run from here to the gulf and back and has 2 days off a week.


Ohh and anything with less than 6 wheels could care less about you and that you cant move over and cant stop on a dime and your the first to blame for their fuckups.

Check in to JB Hunt, CRST was recomended (Im talking to him now) you are basically obligated to work for them for x months but they pay for everything otherwise your looking at the same issue of student loans and all that to get your CDL. Keep in mind there are levels depending on what you do... doubles, hazmat, tanker (stay away from milk trucks)...

In many cases you can get ridealongs so both of you can go and even yerich too. A cell modem might be worth it (mine cost 60 dollars a month) but you can get online most anywhere.

The company I am looking at provides a fridge already built into the truck. Also they brag about their dispatchers. Makeing sure you get well planned routes. Pay for down time and CDL.. on the job training etc.. Not to mention I plan on working double with Jason. I already aware I will not be home a lot. I know not to truck hop. Cold meat sandwiches are your friend. Eating out cost a lot, that I know. I kind of do already on shit pay. So I know to watch out for that. They pay for you CDL but you must work for them for 1 year. However unlike most companies they do not say up to 40k a year. They actually say you will get 40k for the first year. They also have GPS and all kinds of features in their trucks. Also their website answered most my questions. Others were a bit vague. They also have you connected to satelite net. Well all in all I am going to get more info tomorrow. The company name is "Stevens Tranports" they come highly recomeneded by more then one person.

Well my friend said on average you must plan to spend 20 dollars every time you stop or 30 if you plan to eat while there. Thats just on average. And you do get to see alot of the country but you see it as you drive by on the interstate you dont have much time to stop and enjoy it.
