I dream of seeing that one day! I'm amazed that the Netherlands is sort of on that map too... only person I know of here who ever saw northern lights is my long dead grandfather.
Sadly it's cloudy and raining :C

Unfortunately it was cloudy and rainy here. So once again I missed a rare opportunity.

Many years ago I was at something called the Garlic Festival in northern Washington state. After dark, there were maybe a hundred of us gathered around a large bonfire. I had taken ecstasy for the first time so I was a little disconcerted when I looked up and saw ribbons of green fire undulating through the sky. "Damn, that's some strong shit!" I thought until I noticed everyone else was looking up as well.
It lasted well over an hour. It was without doubt the most amazing natural phenomenon I have ever seen. It looked like someone was using an acetylene torch on the outside of the atmosphere. You could make out the curvature of it.
Long story longer, the aurora is something that should be on everyone's bucket list. I hope I get to see it again.
