it's not necessarily wasting...... the .....ehm...... "best before end:" will increase if you take more care about your underwear.....

To be fair I don't fold clothing often. Fancy stuff gets hanged, and therest... Well, I bundle it up in a blanket and use it as a person sized pillow to lean on.
