Seriously Fucked Up People; Boston Marathon Bombing
12 years ago
"MORELS taste good in omelettes..."
[EDIT/RANT] This was a tragedy, not an act of war. The kids who did this had problems. Their religious beliefs and their race have NOTHING to do with what they did. It may have been a justification and a way of connecting their possible delusions together in their minds, but the fact they were Muslim is not, and should never be, a factor in assessing this crime. Homeland Security can kiss my ass on that one, thanks.
Any more bullshit racism, anti-Islamist trash-talk is gonna get a few choice words from yours truly. Keep it up, and get blocked. I will NOT have people making comments like "kill them" or "they should be strung up", etc, but the ones that have been already made will remain.
These boys had issues, some of which they may have used their religion as a justification for what they did, but they were troubled FIRST, and religious a far distant second. Concentrate on the families of all who were hurt in this, not on revenge-fantasies. And I mean the families of the Tsarnaevs, too.
Remember, even murderers once had a family who might have loved them.[/EDIT/RANT]
What the flying HELL?! Seriously? Bombing a freaking race?
I have no words other than I offer my condolences to the families of those killed and injured.
*sighs* Humanity? Can we fucking get a grip already? Just askin'. It ain't much in the grand scheme of things, but can we DO something about untreated mental-illness, 'cuz just watch, they'll find the guy and he'll- almost guaranteed- turn out to be some poor mook under stress and with a long history of delusional issues and illness. No one treated him- almost guaranteed to be male, too; sorry if that seems sexist, but that's the usual pattern- or the treatments he could afford didn't work, or he couldn't afford to be treated at all, even if he wanted to. MENTAL-ILLNESS, people. MENTAL-ILLNESS. If there is anything that should be a priority, anything that takes away from people's productivity, their happiness and adds to the suicide rolls, it's. That. One. Thing.
Wake up, please, you greedy, lying bastards of the medical-insurance 'industry'. Who the fuck considers health a fucking industry? Really? That just seems wrong to me as a humanitarian, but I understand that it's all about how to monetize anything and everything, so please, don't bother to explain it- I know why, I just find it disgusting.
Again, my sympathies go out to the families of the dead and the injured.
Bombs. Un-fucking-believable.

*sigh* What is the world coming to...
I hope for a world one day where such a question isn't a needful reminder of the places humanity needs to grow. Mind you, if we ever decide we no longer "need" to grow, we might as well die for that kind of arrogance.
Look I'll just end this by saying that I'll just quit talking. I keep forgetting that anything I say goes in the wrong direction with people. Sorry for posting here.
Sorry if you or anyone else thinks it sounds racist. I'm not one, but you cannot deny that stereotypes exist for a reason. Just my 2 cents.
Just MY two cents. *growls*

2012 February 17: An illegal immigrant from Morocco was arrested near the Capitol after an undercover investigation into an alleged plot to carry out a suicide attack on the national landmark that houses Congress. Amine el-Khalifi, 29, was picked up while carrying an inoperable gun and a fake suicide vest provided to him by undercover FBI agents posing as al-Qaeda associates.
All of the above were planned or carried out by Islamic extremists. Just saying.
Anyway, I'll stop it with the shouting, now. But, seriously, pulling the race-card on this one... Way to stay classy, mister/miss.
Agreed. I'm already bored with the whole thing anyway. Media's gonna start overhyping it in a few days max anyway. Government's gonna force more "security" down our throats for it, and probably blame guns and patriots to boot.
End of story, whoever it was, succeeded in terrorizing the country as a whole because the TSA and NSA will react by starting to grope us even more and dig into our lives.
And, just a little tip for ya: when someone says they "aren't racist, but" it usually means they're gonna say something racist. I don't tolerate bigotry, here, please understand this. And I DO deny that stereotypes have a reason for existing- they're more about separation and "us vs them" than anything else and only serve to prevent otherwise good people from getting to know each other. Having one's viewpoints about a group being based on stereotypes is the fall-back of those who are too lazy to do the work of learning about that group on a real, one-on-one basis. It's lazy thinking, if one could even call such empty-headedness "thinking".
That being said, so I was wrong and they weren't Arab. What their true motives were, however are still unclear, so until YOU know, I'd appreciate not being tagged and labeled under YOUR personal comfort zones with something this country should be well moved past at this time. Stereotypes exist for a reason, and don't pretend they don't, because you're just fooling yourself if you think everyone in the world acts the exact same, thinks the same, has the same attitudes, is equally good at everything, and has the exact same drives in life, culture, and social interaction.
I worry that sooner or later, clumsy bombings will be the next shooting sprees...
A lawyer friend of mine once told me he was drawing out a case for a few months, because the opposing lawyer was a friend who needed money for a new car. That's my complaint about the healthcare reform...it doesn't cut deep enough.
That facility I worked at was a sinking ship thanks to dwindling returns, but I'm glad to be out of it.
However...in order to provide medical care, you require money as well, things like electricity, resources, water. One way or another -someone- has to dish the money out, so the blame isn't just in the medical care.
But that's about how everything works...humans are greedy and selfish bastards by usual, hence it is impossible to create a civilization that isn't based around some sort of currency.
And, I thought I mentioned that I didn't want folks to "assplain" it to me, because I know "why"... *squints at her post* Yup, near the bottom, there. *grumps*
...
sorry? >..>;
Per-capita, our gun-crime is a fraction of that of the states. But I can hear the peanut-gallery going, "but the U.S. has so many more people- it's only natural the numbers would reflect that!" Anyone who tries to tell you this doesn't understand what "per capita" means. It means "by a thousand"- things like crime-statistics are measured by members of a population, graded by increments of a thousand. It evens things out, in terms of getting a real measure of just how much of certain events, interest, even crime, happens in a certain area... So, a crime-rate of 10% for gun-crime in one locale versus 25% gun-crime of another, even though one has more people, say, still means that the first has less gun-crime, over-all.
Anyway, that's about as much of statistics as I personally understand. LOL
But, yeah, I really wish the fucking NRA would stop bleating on about how people want to take away their fucking guns, because that is just not true. If anything, people like me want them be able to have their guns in a safer environment, not make it so only "officials" of whatever stripe are allowed to have weapons. "Gun-control" means "Responsible gun-ownership and use", not "no one gets guns, unless they're military, cops or government", but I'm probably preaching to the choir on this one. LOL.
Regarding the story you linked in your earlier journal, the poor mother... That kid needs help, stat. For his sake, the mother's sake, the siblings' sake, etc. Especially bright kids like "Michael" need a combination of intellectually stimulating and challenging experiences (not often provided in your run-of-the-mill public school) AND the guidance to navigate through the minefields of adolescence. This is key. (damn I can feel a rant coming on, but I'll suppress it) Pills and paperwork will only go so far. It's going to take more direct involvement, a more sincere approach, to reverse this trend.
