Something Personal

I guess what I try to convey to people that I meet, most of the time anyway, is that there is no shame in being who you are. I've struggled with depression, suicidal thoughts, drug addiction, all of it, I still struggle with it today. It's not an easy road to drive down. It is made even more difficult with the way most people view it. "You have depression? Emo lol" "Just stop doing drugs its not that hard." "Bi-sexual?Faggot!". These are what we deal with on a daily basis. It's hard to not want to kill yourself when you have so much negativity being thrown at you day to day. Parents are the worst at it. To many people I know have to deal with the everyday bullshit from their peers only to get home and have it dished out to them by their own family. I was lucky, my family and friends have always supported me and helped me through my dark times, even when I didn't want the help.
I wish there was a way for me to tell every single person out there that there is no shame in admitting that you have a problem, or that you are gay/bi. You need to accept it for yourself before you can get better, before you can live a happy life. High school is not the end of your life, when you leave that place you will find people who accept you for who you are, not what you do or what you have done. They will embrace you with open arms for everything, your flaws and imperfections, they are what make you unique in life.
Don't be ashamed of being gay, don't be ashamed of the fact that you are depressed or have tried killing yourself or even thought about it. When you accept that its part of your life and it is part of who you are, only then will you be able to really reach out and get the help you need. Maybe its rehab, maybe its just a shoulder of a friend for you to lean on and cry.
I wish I could tell you all that, even if I have never met you I fucking love you more than you know, you are a somebody, you are you. You are a light in this dark world and you should never let that be put out. Believe in yourself and others will follow you. You can be an example of something great to somebody. So Please just live, have an open mind, and open heart.
