MONSTER HUNTER 3 ULTIMATE: HUNTERS NEEDED!!
I'm looking for a few good hunters to rank up with.
I am a rank 5 hunter, that prefers to use GS. I have full sets of High Rank Rathalos, Barioth, and Zinogre armors and weapons (my fire, ice, and lightning sets, respectively), as well as a 1000+ atk power anti dragon GS.
I can gun if needed, though my armor and weaponry are a little outdated (Low rank stuff mostly).
Am seeking hunters to HR up with, or just complete missions. Also having extra guild cards is teh shiznit.
ANY INTERESTED PARTIES PLEASE APPLY! I PLAY THIS GAME ALL THE DAMN TIME EVERY DAY!!
Monsters that I am especially interested in hunting:
1. Jhen Moran - i STILL havent been able to solo this gargantuan asshole. He breaks my dragonship EVERY DAMN TIME
2. Deviljho - My arch enemy. I've killed him once, but am totally willing to slay him again and again
3. Brachydios - I kind of want to make armor out of him because it looks shiny O.O even though the abilities aren't anything to write home about
4. Azure Rathalos- I'd like to turn him into armor too... also i still need rathalos rubies T.T
I'M ALSO TOTALLY WILLING TO HELP OTHER FOLKS OUT! HUNTERS UNITE!

Hope you find your fellow hunters!
monster hunter is a rather grindy game. You hunt monsters for gear, then make gear out of them that helps you hunt even bigger monsters. Then you keep on goin up until you reach the biggest baddest monsters in the game.
It's kind of like wow in that hunters often show off their awesome armors/weapons online to other hunters (like alatreon armor or the new guy, dire miralis).
However, unlike wow (and a lot of other games), MH is almost entirely skill based. How well you do is not affected by your armor that much- its mostly affected by how well you can play- dodging, timing attacks perfectly, blocking (if you can block) and utilizing the attack power of your chosen weapon. And there are a bunch to choose from.
It's a great game, but not for everyone unfortunately.
I probly should stop playing so much half life! XD
3DS online without anything extra needed doesn't come along until MH4 >.<
!
wonder if the game is trying to tell me something XD
Grrrrr!
It is all a game of timing with him. You must know WHEN to use the gong and Dragonator, when to rush in and attack and when to calmly stand back and LET him advance (and fill up on ballista ammo).
Stage One ... Cannon the hell out of him at a distance. Start gathering ballista ammo the moment he moves out of view. Aim ballista awkwardly towards his head as often as possible. (just like in fps games, headshots count for more on All monsters, includung Jhen). When you can get on its back, place bombs near ends of horns or on forehead and move away. (only special bombs in blue box at start can be placed ON the monster). You will not jump off if you are not holding the run button. Then focus on destroying the two soft spots on his back. You WILL be thrown off. Just suck it up and jump back on. When he moves towards the front of the ship, just be patient and collect ballista ammo. There is little else you can do. Work on your timing and try to nail him in the head with the Dragonator, but a hit anywhere is good. SAVE the Gong until this point so it is available to use just before he attacks head on from the side, halting him. (this mindset will be critical in stage two, "final showdown"). He will calmly let you jump on to his horns and finish destroying his soft spots along the spine. Generally wail on him with cannon and ballista at all moments not doing anything else up to this point, carve two holes un his back, and you should move on to "Final Showdown". (continued->)
This is where it REALLY get's tricky ...
(Note, Don't waste cannon balls on empty sand or open air in the first stage. You have limited ammo, and will want/need it later).
He is creeping in from far away. You feel like you need to rush out and start beating on him right away to kill him before he kills you, but RESIST ... max out on ballista ammo (you should have used most or all of what you already gathered of it up if you were efficient and sniped the hell out of his head like you should have) and prepare for the hard part. Place large barrel bombs near the ship where his soft belly will be later, where you can set them off WHEN needed. (keyword "WHEN"). Be sure to bring 3 L Barrel Bombs and 2 L+ (maxing out on small bombs is not a bad idea either), but SAVE them all for the second stage. You'll need them.
Maxed out on Ballista ammo and bombs stategically placed? Good. If he is still too far away for the cannon and ballista, run out and slash the hell out of his fore-legs and toes for a while, but DO NOT SCAR THEM *YET* (once his feet take enough damage, they will show a scar on the upper arm, and he will stun. Do damage early, but stop before the scar appears). Otherwise, shoot at his head. When he is in cannon range, cannon ball him in the head as frequently as possible ... almost. Don't get TOO attack happy at the start. You actually WANT him to reach the ship as early as possible, and whenever you reach damage landmarks, he will stun and step back, slowing his advance, so only damage him up to where he ALMOST is going to be stunned.
"Wait ... you want him to WHAT???". ... that's right. Let him come. NO FEAR!!!
You see, there is a timer on the Dragonator between uses. If you do too much damage early on, he will not be in Dragonator range until mid to late battle, and it will not reset again before you run out of time. Using it TWICE during the "Final Showdown" will likely be the difference between success and failure.
So, wail on him with cannon, ballista and your weapon as he creeps uncomfortably close, and then as soon as he is in range ... DRAGONATOR! (In case you don't know, the "Dragonator" is activated by pressing "A" by the big medallion button near the front of the ship, and the "Gong" is activated by hitting a similar button near the mast. Both have silent timers between uses, and must be used STRATEGICALLY and with good timing). The dragonator must be used at Point-Blank Range.
*Side note: When you use the Dragonator on him the first time in the "Final Showdown" portion, the music changes ... and it is one of the most satisfying musical cues I've ever experienced in a videogame. FANTASTIC.*
It is extremely tricky from here on out. You must prevent him from attacking as often as possible while damaging him as much as you can, but in a strategically timely manner. Ballista him, cannonball him (if you haven't run out of ammo yet), do whatever until you sense he is going to attack soon. When you sense an attack in emminent, prepare one of several ways to stun him.
*1: Hitting the GONG just as he begins to rear up for an attack will halt it immediately and cause him to step back.
*2: Reaching the damage threshold on his legs and scarring him will make him step back.
*3: Doing enough massive damage to him ANYWHERE will stun him and make him step back. (Multiple headshots with Cannon/Ballista, Successive Barrel Bomb blasts to his soft underbelly ... epic attack combo rush from your weapon of choice, etc.)
... if he is stepping back ... he is not attacking the ship. That is KEY. But not as much as TIMING.
You must TRY (you won't always succeed, don't sweat it too much), to make him stun just before he attacks as often as you can manage. Waiting for the right moments to unleash high hell (still dealing low-hell at all times between) can be frustrating and nerve-wracking, especially when it doesn't work, and will make the battle drag on for a long time, but as long as you keep him NEAR the ship, but not actually HITTING the ship as often as you can manage. (you can't stop ALL of his attacks ... that is impossible when playing solo, though epic and experienced 4 hunter teams can pull that off).
When you are out of cannon and ballista ammo (remember ... headshots count), out of bombs, have used the Dragonator a second time (don't wait on that one ... when it says it's ready, HIT THE BUTTON [presuming he is in range. Don't waste it on one monster-steps worth of open air]), and all other options have been exhausted. CHAAAAARRRRGGGEEEEEEE!!!!!!
... NOW is the time to just attack wherever you can reach him with your weapon as often as possible and pray you can finish him off before he finished off the ship.
If you max out your health bar, remember to bring enough potions (I highly recommend using DemonDrug and Armorskin before EVERY tough battle ... it lasts your entire turn until you are knocked out), and get your timing right more often than not ... Jhen CAN be solo'd. I've done it several times already in Ultimate (3DS Version). ... but it's tough. Even if you do it right, he WILL beat you sometimes. Don't lose hope. You can do it.
I kind of guessed that the fight would be more of a timing thing than a brute force thing. I'll get it eventually.
If you'd like, I could start making "Hunters Wanted" journals for those that have the ability to play online.
I'd love to join you guys but I haven't had the chance to get a Wii U yet. 3DS HR54 and just too busy lately to finish the HR5 mission...
ANYWAY! Good luck!
though it didn't seem too populated. I get the feeling that there aren't many furs who play MH for whatever the reason, so put up this journal in hopes of attracting any interested parties who might stumble upon this journal >.<
I mean, after seeing you make this journal and two others before that within the space of a week asking for people to join them in MH3U, it prompted me to try the "Hunter's Wanted" journal in the group. We'll just have to see how that goes for now.
Also! You should tell your friends and put the group on your front page. We'd deeply appreciate it! :D
but the hunters wanted journal would be a good idea. In the meantime, ill put the group on my front page :p
for instance.. add procene to add me.. >:3
does monster hunter list what port it uses anywhere?
