My thoughts on what the gun laws of the US should be.

As a responsible gun owner, here is a bill I would propose for the USA.
Mandatory CHL/Gun License after you pass a mandatory 'Gun Competence/Law Class'.
Mandatory background checks and 7 day waiting period.
Mandatory serial number and gun registration with the county/state.
If you pass all that, cool get a semi-auto rifle or pistol. You have to do all of this to get a car, and I'm sure people need a car in their life a lot more then they need a gun. If you don't want your name in the magic book that the cops and black hats have, then you shouldn't have a gun to begin with.

The only thing I would add is that gun manufacturers should have to do ballistics tests on all the guns they sell. This would make it so much easier to trace bullets back to the guns that fired them. Before you say that you can just swap out a barrel, extra barrels should also be tested and tracked!
