Grand Rapids appears to be slightly underwater
12 years ago
Some scary shit! I was actually visiting some friends (Actually, my new boyfriend and girlfriend. Poly times are good times) and it started POURING rain. We're about a block away from their house (they have a cute little house, seriously, it's fucking adorable) and are about to go beneath an overpass. Now, it didn't *look* like that big of a puddle. Little did we realize that the road dipped *down* beneath this overpass thingie. Cue being in water that would probably go up to my ass if I was standing in it. Got to about the middle, was still fine, chugging along, when a car coming in the other direction went through and sent a giant wave of water over us.
Yeah. Cue the car getting stalled out.
Now, if you've never been in a car that feels like it's turning into a boat, I can't really describe to you how scary that is. My boyfriend got out of the car, told me and girlfriend to stay in, and started pushing the car. I, (being myself) started to get out of the car as well, because fuck that he's not going to have to push the car by his lonesome! I know I'm short, but I'm also very stocky, built vaguely like a medieval Dwarf. But I'm in luck! This SUPER NICE KID comes out of nowhere and starts helping us, pushes us far enough to at least get out of the water. Boyfriend then gets back in the car and kid starts pushing us the rest of the way into a parking lot with his truck. Seriously, if I ever meet this kid again, I want to buy him cookies or something.
At any rate, we finally did get back to the house. Not in the car though. A friend of girlfriend's came by and gave us a lift, so that was pretty great. But with no car, it meant that a trip that was, supposedly, to only last an evening turned into three days. Not that I mind hanging out with boyfriend and girlfriend, but I didn't have any of my stuff with me to work on things, which sucked. So yeah, prepare for a small flood of commissions being done in the next few days.

Anyhow, sounds like things have been a bit mixed.
