So who exactly are my characters?
I’ve had a few people on FA wanting to know the backstories of my characters. There will be more revealed when I (one day) resume work on my webcomic (the few episodes I completed are on www.foxaroo.ca), but here is the story behind the Sauerpüss family:
Before the webcomic’s starting point:
In 2014 (just next year, I’d better hurry up!) a joey was abandoned on the doorstep of social worker Noree Calga, an eastern grey kangaroo. This child was a wallaby-chameleon hybrid whom she later named Sebastian (he’s the character on the left in my avatar), and who could control & change the colour of his fur. News of Sebastian’s unique physiology hit the internet and attracted the attention of German zoologist and geneticist Ziegfried Sauerpüss, a red fox, renown for studying exotic hybrids. He travelled to Australia in order to study Sebastian, while Noree continued searching for Sebastian’s parents. Working together they developed an admiration for each other that progressed through friendship and into love and they were married early the following year, adopting Sebastian as their son. Although both were now in their 40’s, and not even the same animal themselves, Ziegfried’s knowledge enabled the couple to have two children of their own; Michael and Hilda. Michael was born with his mother’s grey fur while Hilda inherited her father’s red fur. (Michael is the character on the right in my avatar).
Ziefried passed away in 2032, and Noree less than a year later. Before Noree died she asked Michael to promise to look after his siblings, including Sebastian who, although older, had grown irresponsible and immature. Michael took temp jobs to put himself and Hilda through school, and college.
After college Michael took on a permanent job as an administrator for a road haulage company, worked hard and rose to the position of junior executive. Living down the street from Michael was a hog named Patrick Digby, a self-employed car mechanic and all-around handyman whose family had briefly lived in the USA. Michael and Patrick became friends, with Patrick performing odd-jobs for Michael while Michael helped with Patrick’s income tax and occasional legal matters. Patrick also has a girlfriend named Kim Tsu who is a mysterious little white-furred Chinese dragon.
Sebastian meanwhile became a male stripper and using his colour-changing fur as a gimmick he earns a fortune, enjoys the company of attractive women, and lives an extravagant lifestyle. Sebastian is both attention-seeking and condescending toward Michael who in-turn finds him annoying but remembers his promise to his mother about taking good care of his siblings.
Michael was unfairly demoted back to administrator when the General Manager’s son, a geeky perpetually smiling sheep named Lenny, took a disliking to Michael and the two of them planted false evidence to implicate Michael in wrongdoing at work. Patrick, who isn’t afraid of much, secretly created a bomb scare in the office tower so that he and Michael could uncover the truth by hacking the computer network. For proof Michael copied an E-mail between Lenny & his father, however Michael couldn’t send the E-mail to himself due to the security on the computer network. Instead he used Lenny’s own character in the Virtual Reality game “Sheep Thriller” to forward the E-mail on to a character of Michael’s own. However after the bomb scare Lenny discovered this. Soon as work finished he and Michael rushed to enter the game, with a fight breaking out over possession of the E-mail. The battle was intense and lasted several hours. Although Lenny had a higher-level character through excessive playing of the game, Michael was a more talented player with better reflexes. Patrick needed to create a new character for himself to enter the game and was only able to give limited assistance. The battle ended when the E-mail message (depicted as an object in the game) was lost somewhere in the game’s battlefield.
This brings us up to the webcomic’s starting point:
Michael continues to play “Sheep Thriller,” hoping that one day he’ll be able to find the E-mail proving that he was falsely accused at the office, but he also plays it both to relieve stress from work and because being a virtual reality game it’s as effective as a gym for keeping his body in shape. Patrick occasionally joins in playing the game. They play alongside GG1, a robotic iron horse (based on the outline for K9 of Doctor Who) whose name is a play on “Gee-gee” which is English slang for racing pony, and also GG1 is the class of a stylish American electric locomotive built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in the 1930’s. One evening they are joined by Rachel “Misty” Hayes, an argumentative and shameless hyena girl in senior high school, having logged on from the USA East Coast in the early hours of the morning.
The first few years of the comic will be set within the game, after which the story will progress in the dystopian future world my characters belong to, with more characters being introduced. I like drama and mystery best, but there will also be a few comedic story arcs.
Later I’ll put together a brief description of the personalities for my main characters to post in another FA journal, and if I have time I’ll explain how I came to think up the ideas (and in some cases the other people who helped me).

Currently the only artwork I've done myself is here: http://www.foxaroo.ca/ , but it's not very good. When I improve I'll start posting artwork of my own on FA.
