So... yeah. Sorry I haven't updated in ages. I'm planning on doing my journal more often now.
I joined the California Conservation Corps at Fortuna, which is a government agency that puts people ages 18-25 to work. We mostly remove non-indigenous plants, make and maintain trails, and SRP (salmon restoration project). I haven't had any work besides performing for about 2 years, so I'm mostly doing it for resume building--we only get paid state minimum wage.
It's alright, I guess, but I've been fucking depressed lately. Fortuna is a small town and we're not located downtown. The only thing within walking distance of me is a gas station and a bar & grill. I haven't been able to get out of town ever since I got here over a month ago. There's a gay parade in Arcata tomorrow but I haven't been able to secure a ride since the buses here don't run on Sundays. I want to get out and be with people I don't see every damn day.
The lab closes in a couple of minutes. I'll probably be stuck on-center tomorrow, so maybe I'll do a long post.
