You think at the very least a notification/slip of some kind would be put inside the box to say who took it and why. So that you know for next time more than anything else.

That's why I'm guessing it was stolen. If customs had decided I wasn't allowed to have the things, there ought to have been a note to that effect, probably with instructions on how to get the things back.

I wonder if it's because they thought you were going to make some kind of armour from it. Sounds silly but when do they every have a good reason for taking crafting materials

Sorry to hear about this, I work for UPS so I may have an idea of what may have happened, as were your supplies may have wound up. Not going to try to make excuses but for UPS, honestly I am surprised this does not happen more often but, the management does not believe in giving a reasonable amount of time to load a truck properly, your supplies most likely broke the box open on route and fell some were and they were not associated with the box. and if there was now information on your supplies they are probably on their way to corporate in St. Louis. I do not know if you can get it back from there, every thing there goes up for action every month. Trying to steel what I think you were shipping is hard to get out, and most people at UPS are more interested in drinking and doing drugs then making mail, plus to get in and out we all have to go through metal detectors, not saying the system is perfect but, the only things people can sneak out these days is what they can put in their Foot were. and UPS has a Zero tolerance for theft, not saying that it does not happen. But again I am sorry to hear this and I hope that things get cleared up for you and your customers.

Well, thanks for that theory. I'd rather it be a mistake than a malicious act. The way in which the tape on the box looks like it was cut open, then taped shut again, doesn't seem very accidental, but it's possible. If the stuff is lying on a truck bed in a pile somewhere, maybe there's hope of UPS fixing it, because the package would include a receipt with my information on it.

Yeah. That totally sucks. I do believe that stuff does get lost. There is just general error in the regard of shipping lots of things to lots of far away placees. Still, UPS has quite the reputation for losing stuff. They lost a desk once. Not an Ikea desk but a fully assembled desk. :/ Like..wtf?

The fact that the US customs tape was cut does make me wonder if the contents were deliberately stolen and not part of a box getting torn/broken open and the contents getting scattered while in transit. Grrr...

some times shippers use to little tape, and tape some times brakes in odd ways, but ya, things are always suspect.
