People like what they like, My Little Pony fursonas are a thing, Pokemon fursonas are a thing, digimon fursonas are a thing, Lion King fursonas are a thing; so are 101 Dalmatians, Lady and the Tramp, Aristocats, etc -- any anthropomorphic TV show/movie will have characters made that revolve not only around the style, but the design of said show.

Those people like the design, or style of said show and mimic it, it's a fanbase with a creative audience so of course this is going to happen regardless of what show it is. A popular artist I follow has an Arcanine fursona, another has a Raichu fursona, one has a digimon-esque character they use, and even one that has a Liger Zero fursona -- quad-suit and fullsuit to boot.

Personally I love the style of Sonic, and can see why people choose to mimic it and create their own characters, just like we create our own with certain aspects in mind, these people also have created theirs with the style in mind.



To me this is like saying you prefer spots over stripes, and don't like stripes for their style. We're all part of one big combined fanbase afterall.

I mean, have you seen the amount of foxes/huskies/wolves this fandom has that are practically the same just with different accessories? Essentially the same anyway :U

Not that there's anything wrong with it, of course, but all the characters look the same... You have either the hedgehog style or the echidna style... There just doesn't seem to be anything to differ between them other than colour and what hair accessories they have.

sonic is a classic, but I'm honestly really tired of the style. by no means am I saying it should stop or that other whiny business. I just get tired of seeing what seems to be the same flat and unimaginative characters.
