"Everyone thought the Oltanians were going to bombard the Capital but... but...they didn't. They just bombarded the moon of Meridum. They just glassed its entire surface till it was entirely destroyed. It was just.... horrific, just to see them do that."

In the midst of the First Intergalactic War, the Oltanians managed to break into the Founder's Triangle of the Galactic Republic. They positioned themselves over Tretris but instead of bombarding the Capital, the Oltanians instead bombarded the world of Meridum, the largest moon of Tretris. The Oltanians bombarded its surface, glassing its surface till enough damage was done. While many people of Meridum survived the glassing, what happened next ended its life as we know it. Its atmosphere evaporated and without the atmosphere everyone that survived the bombarded died quickly.
Around 2788 BIW, The Republic manages to create a stalemate line at its upper boarders where the soon be Aridian Territory and Republic Territory met. The Oltanians using an ancient Koruscian Trade Route managed to sneak its way past the stalemate line and into the Republic Core Worlds. Sensors from Novalis picked up a massive Oltanian Fleet approaching their way, so the Republic fearing a similar event from the System Wars, sent the 1st Fleet Regiment to protect Novalis. However the Oltanian Fleet did a sudden turn and this time appeared directly over Tretris Oakutarui. Immediately when signs of the Oltanian Fleet appeared over the Capital, massive evacuations and run for covers immediately happened, While the Navy prepared itself to defend the Homeworld with all their might. However the Oltanians didn't want to attack Tretris, they had sights on another target.
==The Day the Galaxy stood still==
As the Oltanian fleet floated above Tretris's Orbit they aimed their cannons but not at the planet, they instead fired on Meridum, a Moon of Tretris and one of the only habitable moons of the planet. Everyone on the surface of Tretris watched in horror as the Oltanians bombarded Meridum's surface impact after impact, explosion to explosion, everyone watched as they just bombarded the moons surface. Though the Oltanians were focusing on random spots they just wanted to deal enough damage to burn an image into the Republic's Eyes. By the time the Republic 1st Regiment arrived the Oltanians quickly dispersed leaving Meridum a burning wasteland.
Those that survived the bombardment would only live for a few minutes, as the bombardment litearlly stripped Meridum of it atmosphere. And those that managed to survived died instantly without an atmosphere to support them.
==Lost in the Embers of Meridum==
Using this as rally point, the Republic utilized its Navy and began to push its forces into Oltanian occupied space inside the Main Galaxy. During that, relief and rescue workers were sent to Meridum to hope find surviors, but what they saw was just a living nightmare. They saw empty cities or destroyed metropolitans littered with impact craters. Even saw bodies of people some holding their necks due to the lack of oxygen. They declared Meridum a lost world, however it didn't stop the Republic from beginning its restoration efforts till after the War ended.
