My company had to deal with this as well. I think for $60/m you get access to all of their products.

I don't think a petition is going to change their mind. IF they start losing revenue that may change their mind.

People must decide if photoshop is worth the money they are charging for it. If not there are many alternatives. Otherwise its a cost of business increase that will have to be passed on to customers.

The petition itself is a threat: that if they do it they might lose customers.

As a leader in the digital art industry, their actions might create a chain reaction of other businesses following- which I hope wont be the case. It's just kinda screwy all around. @-@

Just use a different program or buy the copy of CS6 they still sell.

If your target audience, in mass, says they wont buy it, there's a possibility that they may reconsider in fear of profit-loss. Some petitions have found success in this manner, by threatening their money source.

Also, switching to the topic of going on people's journals and spitting on their words: Fuck off. I take this as a serious issue, a threat to digital artists, and you come in with "Like those ever work." Adobe is huge in the artistic industry, and a leader in it. Who's to say that if they find success other art programming business won't follow? The point here is to put your name out as a person who wont go for that crap.

I understand why they are doing it, but there is no way for a student to afford it. And most smaller companies may even struggle with the payments.
I know at our school they purchase an adobe license for each computer. Will be interesting to see what will happen now.
I am just going to have to stick to my CS6 from now on I suppose, or fully learn how to use painter. xD

Signed. I have been working hard the past few years to be able to afford Flash and I am not about to fucking save up all that money for nothing so that I have to pay a set fee per month.

Now if it was 50 per month as a sort of 'bill' and the payment ENDED once the full price of the product was paid for, I'd be all for it. But not this BS.

Yeah I would not mind doing it this way. I actually believe more people would be willing to pay for it this way since people would be given time to raise the money for it, and if one month's pay is not met then they can just disable it till you begin making payments again.

I agree. I've been wanting flash for so long and it's very hard to save up for a program that costs more than my laptop did...If there was a payment plan I'd be completely giddy. I don't want them to just make it a permanent payment of 50 though, that just freaking sucks.

I'm not an artist but I am a musician and I know if Studio 1 or Protools pulled that....I'd be checking out alternatives very fucking fast!

I think they really don't give a half a shit about small-time artists, freelancers, etc. Heck, they don't even enforce their EULA except towards studios with 20+ designers/devs. We're like the proles of Orwell's 1984 to them. Unnoticed except MAYBE to make the occasional example out of (which I havn't seen out of them, personally)

That being said, as an art hobbyist I use SAI, and as an aspiring developer I'd use Java and/or HTML5 over Flash any day. It's not like you're chained to their products. Not these days. ^v~

UGH. Renting software? Renting? I mean, I knew the software industry was pretty dodgy, but this... this is just a whole new level. At least in the "good ol' days" you paid once and only once to be enslaved, but now, now you have to pay for that opportunity. Every. Single. Month! Fffffffffff.

Wow okay Adobe, you're being really stupid, stop it. I signed the petition! I use SAI more than Photoshop but so many professionals use Photoshop, and they don't need another bill to pay. Hope they don't go through with it.

Maybe if they charged cheaper it'd be fine but that's quite a lot of money just for a couple drawing programs.

Though I guess considering how FEW of the people who actually use it BOUGHT it I can definitely understand the why of it all.

I use the icloud, rent it for my course at 15 a month, because its bloody expensive for a student :'D
But to make it only available through renting is very interesting :s

To be honest.. Our studio uses creative cloud and it's actually pretty good... I mean for business related projects that only last a certain amount of time it's actually saved the studio a lot of money compared to buying everything upfront.. Yeah it does run out but I can see the positives of it.

You get ALL of the adobe products for $588 A YEAR! (not thousands of dollars?) That's actually pretty good.. And Tbh, a year is what it takes Adobe to freakin upgrade anyways so yeah. And photoshop is only $20 a month ($240 a year lol thats like... What I spend on shopping in a week and a half xDD)

Students likely will get it cheaper too, I'm not sure.

I just don't think you should jump the barrel too much. Do some research, think about it. Yes we all hate Adobe. And with how much people are bitching and flying over the moon about this (which I dotn really get.. i mean if you hate it that much.. just use the old versions of the programs.. they usually work better anyway haha)
