Steam's programming is really clunky, Linux or no. It should also use the native window shell of the OS it's designed for and I wish it could act more like a shell in itself when you're in big picture mode. Steam's pretty lousy from a programming standpoint, though. D:

That's stupid. I know of a number of people who use their 360's while they cannot have internet access. You know, like, while they are deployed in support of their country.

Thank you. Just got back from 9 months in the 'Stan. Didn't take my 360 with me, but I know a lot of people who did. We were able to get internet on it once, but it was a hassle. It involved sharing a connection on a laptop and jumping the 360 off of it.

Oh geez, that's always an adventure trying to piggy back off connections @.@

We were able to do it and download the Mechromancer pack for Borderlands 2. The connection was 128-512 kbps and I was paying $90 a month for it.

No, not really. I actually had a great connection here. It was that there was no other option available. We are paying a group of civilians to run internet service in a war zone.

Just a joke. x3 Although we're lagging behind most first world countries, all things considered our Internet infrastructure isn't too bad. Certainly not comparable to a war zone.

I know right? I do networking for the Army. Not that paid system, our own systems. I know how easy it is to do this stuff, and I know how much they are probably gouging us for. Then again, they are transmitting to and receiving from a satellite, and I know Sat time is FAR from cheap. Also, they have to pay their workers hazard pay. Hmmmmm....probably comes out to being about fair. They also had other packages for slower internets for less money, but I didn't want to pay for that.

Yes, all the time. The things people whine and moan and (excuse the language) bitch about. Going to a 3rd World country, living in crappy conditions, working more hours in a week than I care to count to include at one point at the very beginning working...AND REALLY WORKING...40 hours between 2 days (yes, you read that right)...all that puts your life in perspective. You realize how good you got it. Just how much oportunity you have in the free world.

You also realize, usually while hiding in a bunker waiting for the mortars and rockets to stop hitting, just how fragile your life is. That at any given moment it can end. How the word "INCOMING" can scare you and isn't just a word you hear on tv. Hearing the concussion of a round launching, closing your eyes and thinking "round incoming, here it comes, please God don't be me" and waiting to hear it hit or sail over you before opening your eyes. I'm ranting, and I'm sorry. I need to exercise this demon though. I'm also getting some flashbacks to my first deployment.

Point I'm trying to make, over there, you go without sometimes. Your life gets thrown into perspective. You also see the local nationals with shoes on their feet that are in shambles and realize just how good you got it. Nothing is better than a deployment for perspective.

I guess my standpoint is that, if that were everyone's comparative standard, the world would suck. I hope that some day people will think that the quality of life in the US we're having right now is a horrible standard of living, because I'd like to think that the world is always improving.

Regardless though, I feel like I could stand for some of that perspective, but I know I could never be in a place like that and come out on the other side okay. Don't know how you did it.

Well, I'm just a normal guy who has a job that puts me in abnormal situations. You come back a little bit different. After my first deployment I got angry quick and started having anxiety attacks when I would wake up. Mental health fixed me up though. Basically, over there you find ways to cope with the stress. You rationalize and think about things a bit differently. You turn off parts of your brain. For me, on my second deployment, I basically became mostly emotionally numb as a coping mechanism. Now that I'm back, I've since turned it back on. I'll be okay this time. I've been back a few weeks. It's hard to imagine that 3 weeks ago I was in Afghanistan.

eh I'm strongly thinking the Ouya or PS4 but if games are truly $100 each and not just a place holder forget it
