This is the poem my husband wrote for me for our 1st wedding anniversary. He's the sweetest man I've ever met and I'm proud to call him my husband. An amazing poem by an amazing man.


I thought about a poem
And then about a song
And then I finally realized
That all of that was wrong
I thought about my love for you
And of yours for me
And I knew that my future goal
Was already history
Now don't get excited
And don't start to worry
Just don't get yourself upset
Until you know the story
I don't want you thinking
That this is turning bad
I wanted to get you something
That no one's ever had
Words have all been said before
And sentiments are nice
But I wanted to get you something
That would make you think twice
Most people might wonder
How much that would cost
The price has already been paid
And everything gained, nothing lost
The things I want to present you
I simply cannot give
The desire to love everyone
And the endless will to live
I cannot make your dreams come true
Or the nightmares fade away
I cannot make the rainclouds go
Or make the sunshine stay
I simply cannot protect you
From the things inside your mind
I don't know how to guide you
From places I cannot find
The things I want to do for you
Have already been done
The battles I want to fight for you
Have already been won
The Lord has already fought for you
He has already won the war
He obviously knew what I also know
You are worth fighting for
There are still a few secrets
That have yet to be revealed
One of them I will tell you
Your wounds can ALL be healed
Emotional and physical
Each and every one
The Lord God heals every wound
Through Jesus Christ the Son
There are a few catches
I don't want you deceived
The word of God only works
When it is believed
God will not have us suffer
He will not have us wallow
But in order for Him to help us
We must agree to follow
The final catch might be
The most bitter of all pills
Our great and powerful Lord
Only does what He wills
Before you get discouraged
And before you get upset
Listen close because this might be
The best part yet
He fought for you, He died for you
He loves you to no end
He's more than just our master
He wants to be your friend
God took two people
And made them one
Two separate battles
Two battles won
There is still a long road
And more battles to be fought
But I know I'm not alone
And that really means a lot
But better than not alone
I share my life with you
Every day I thank God
For making one out of two
Love is the bond of perfection
Even though we are not so
Love is our Godly roadmap
That guides us where to go
God put us together
No one can tear us apart
I hope that you know
That you will always have my heart
Our love is from God
A gift for you and me
It's nothing we can pay for
He offered it for free
Because it came from God
It's reflected in His deeds
He always watches out for us
And He takes care of our needs
I still have one more
Trick under my hat
I know you miss me all the time
And I can help with that
The next night that you are missing me
Go outside and look above
God's universe in front of you
Is still too small to hold our love
