First you should post the model of the monitor, there's probably color adjustment tools you can purchase but more likely than not somebody out there has the same problem as you and has found proper adjustments you can make using just your monitor tools or your NVIDIA/ATI control panels.

Also, if you're doing what I think you're doing, wouldn't it be easier to have the laptop next to the monitor and instead of adjusting the palette of the image to match every time, change the color/contrast/gamma/etc. of your monitor until it's as close to the laptop's image as possible?

You probably won't be able to do it with a single image though, and you're probably better off using multiple kinds of images, from real-life scenery to artwork to more sbstract things, just to make sure all the colors display properly.

And, no matter what I do, I still can't get it right.

As far as what model I have. I have one Wacom Cintiq 22Hd and a 24" Seiki LED tv thing that I use with a standard VGA hook up. I don't expect to get the colors perfect on that, since it isn't technically a computer monitor, but Cintiq is, and it's the one that matters the most.

After a quick search it is apparent this may be a bit tougher than normal because of the nature of it being a touch-based device. Thus, 'calibration' isn't going to be a useful search term. Hmmm....

on a side note, do you have access to a DVI-D or DisplayPort on your monitors? DisplayPort is probably the best to use on a PC right now, and DVI-D means that signals don't have to be converted between digital and analogue and give a better picture. I don't think that will fix your problems at all but it's something to think about next time you're in the market for a display monitor of some sort.

If I get the time and will to do so I may do a bit more research, but perhaps you may just need to search for color calibration on monitors in general. It's near impossible to get two different monitors to look exactly the same because of different specifications and all that jazz.

By Default, the Cintiq is DVI-D, I believe, and it is a pen display. It doesn't have multi-touch functionality, like an iPhone or the like, if that was what you were talking about.

I'm not too worried about making both the monitors be exactly the same, so much as I want to get the Cintiq as best as I can get it.

Right now, it's pretty close, however, you can tell there is a visible difference between it and my laptop, which I know the colors are near perfect, for lack of a better term. And, that's what eats away at me. .-.

The colors could be correct but your gamma or contrast could be off. try messing with the gamma or contrast. I know that on my monitor by default it was at a medium gamma, which would for whatever reason make the entire image kinda yellow. Right now the gamma is set to 'none' and the image is a bit more blue but it's more tolerable and not as overbright as the other gamma setting.

As for the calibration, I was talking about how you can't search for color calibration settings because if you try to search for 'calibration' it will return pen calibration settings and stuff, which isn't what we're looking for >_>

I have tried it for Hell knows how long, but essentially... You need a rather expensive toolkit to do it... I have two almost identical monitors side-by-side and no amount of tweaking managed to bring them even close to being same color...

Everyone else's monitor is out of calibration too, the best bet is to stop worrying and love relativistic color perception

It honestly doesn't matter unless you want to print things, but it doesn't hurt to strive for more accurate color.

Just try not to get too heartbroken when you see the same art on someone else's computer...

Well, I already do check the things I've colored on a couple different devices after I was done with them.
Honestly, It wouldn't bother me as much because I would know that the problem is on their end, because on mine it would look how it should. :p

What operation system are you working on? Try searching the keyword "calibrate" and check out what shows up. Something popped up for me when I searched that, and it might help.

Win-7 Ultimate. I've already used the default program and have alternated between that and my graphics cards' settings to try to get it right. But, as stated before, it's still a little off. Just to make enough of a difference for me tp pay as much attention as I do to it.

I dunno how old it is , but some monitors dont have that much color(depths)depending on the type or quality of pixels and backlight. Try to search for the specs n stuff befor youll go mental :3

if your screen is less than 2 years old its not worth worrying about. just do a basic color calibration test (the one in windows is fine) if you want to really go hardcore color correction you should look at getting a pantone spyder or seek someone that can lend you one.

The spyder two is why I use and its still doing a good job to this day.
