Then Jason Collins became the first active athlete in a professional team sport to come out in America.
Now Robbie Rogers will become the first openly gay athlete to play in a professional team sport, playing for the L.A. Galaxy soccer team (because Jason Collins currently isn't signed and won't play until next year at the earliest).

Sports are getting gayer. And this is a good thing.
