Auctions might be a good idea or rasing prices

Why not out of every batch you make have one egg where you get a higher quality adopt for the 12$ price tag? Then your fanbase stays cause you got your regular product but then there is also an option for those with deeper wallets.

This might sound a little biased, but if prices were raised to $12 an egg, I might have to back out of buying so many. Which would make me sad because I just love how beautiful these turn out. Now I know that might earn me a lot of flaming remarks like: "If you like them then you should pay more for them", but the bottom line is... my money isn't endless.

One idea you could try out are payment options. The base price could be your usual one, but then you could offer a second price like an extra 6.25 will get you an upgraded version of the adoptable with lines and maybe a little bit of shading. Or an extra price if they want to change something on the finish adoptable like a marking or even add a colour to it. It could add up after a while.

Base Price: $6.25
Upgrade: $6.25

That comes to $12.50 all together.

Then maybe like... $1, $2 or more dollars per an edit to colours and markings.

So if we took my last horse and had it upgraded with say $3 dollars to add in some white markings on the face, hands and feet... that would be $15.50.

If you did the upgrade idea and added lines and shading I could see you bumping the price up a bit more then $6.25.

If you still have some of the old adoptables around you could offer the upgrade deal to them too. That way people who really love their old ones could come back and get their's lined as well.

I think clawbolts idea is a good one... you might even be able offer an upgrade of a front back ref sheet. with color swatches for a total of 15- 20 depending on other upgrade people want.

Good idea. I think that's good for both the buyer and the artist

It's understandable if I charge more then people will buy less.


Though I've tried things like upgrades on my main account with regular commissions and no one ever takes the options. Also ideally if people wanted a more finished look or to see it in a different style they were welcome to commission me for whatever style they would like.

Never hurts just to have the option there. I know there are a couple of adoptables I wouldn't mind lined or even have an extra marking put on them. I would even be willing to pay extra.

So if you raised the price to $12... would the adoptables remain the same or would they be lined?

Oooh. New idea! What if you change the rules a bit. At the base price, they'll get an adoptable, but it will be your choice of species and maybe gender. Maybe not. But an extra two or three dollars would allow them to choose the species.

Huh that is a neat idea actually. I might very well do that for future batches!

*Nods* You could test it out and see what happens. The auction idea is also very good. Maybe on those you could add a small incentive ladder. If they bid over x amount you may line the adoptable and so on. There are all sorts of little things you could do to get a little extra money.

I snagged one that I wanted, so...I'm fine with whatever you do.

I don't have money, so maybe my opinion does not matter as much, but here is an idea: more options.

Have non-custom adoptables at your regular price, then charge a little more for customs (and maybe have buyers choose a palette, but you do the patterns). You can also do more detailed adopts and put them up for auction. c:

Not having money doesn't mean your opinion means any less. I'm looking for opinions on what people would like to see, regardless if they have the money to spend or not.

I have tried pre mades before, but they take tooth and nail to try and sell.

I've resorted to giving some away to try and generate a buzz....also with no avail. ^^;
