For those of you in the know, i've been studying for, and worrying about, taking my state test to be a wastewater treatment plant operator. Fun job considering my interests, eh? But it's a job that never occurred to me before, my mother met a guy at her job who ran a small plant by himself last year and i've been learning from him since then. He taught me the ins and outs of the job, how to do all the important jobs. Take samples, check results, mow the lawn, feed the pig and scrub the weirs.

It's a shockingly interesting job, dealing with people's crap. Not very hands on, you just monitor the giant tank, take samples and make sure nothing is getting septic, add chlorine at the end and keep the area maintained. Other than that, you'd drive to the local lift stations(small wells that collect an area's wastewater and pump it to the plant) and check the readings on the pumps. If anything is off, you call a contractor to fix it. That was at a small plant, which i'll probably be working at, so I expect things will be the same. Minus the pig.

Anyway, I took the test today, and two and a half long, grueling hours later I finished and got my results: I passed. I passed and I never have to take the test again, i'm so happy.

The guy who's been training me will sign off on my time next week, so I mail in my papers and within a week i'll have my official license and can become a plant operator immediately. Several positions are already open, and I should have no problem getting in a local spot.

This means a large increase in pay, roughly double what I get paid for doing security, flexible work schedules, benefits, 401k and paid sick days and vacation.

Best of all, in about three months when I get financially settled, I can buy SOOOOOO much more porn. :D So my 'Lessons Learned' comic will continue being made.
