Writing more! (and a poll!)
The Beatdown was basically clogging up my to-do list for the past two months, when it comes to writing. Lots of rewrites, lots of deliberating, lots of struggling with how to end it, lots of wondering if anyone was even going to read it given the nature of the content (meant to invoke disgust, revulsion, and hatred)... now that it's out of the way, I feel free!
I actually have a good bit of free time now, and I'm starting to write more! Hurrah! There are so many things I want to write... I just have to get over the intimidation factor of being afraid to screw 'em up. There are two big projects on my to-do list now for writing, and they're both extremely scary because I feel like they're going to be so hard to pull off and easy to mess up, yet so rewarding if I can do it right.
A quick question: to readers, on a scale of PORN to PLOT, what is your motivation for reading my stories (be honest, as it helps me), and would you complain if I churned out more stories a bit more skewed to either side?

Hmmm...well, the way you're phrasing the question implies that you see porn and plot as two opposite ends of continuum, which I do not believe to be the case. Not to sound dismissive, but almost anyone with a solid command of the English language and reasonable communication skills can write a decent, fappable sex scene. To me, the really good porn stories are good *because* of their plot, not despite it. Taking your furry literature, which I consider to be some of the best out there, you write great porn scenes, but what makes them meaningful is that you spend a lot of time on fleshing the characters out before the dirty deed. Real sex isn't a just a mechanical act...how the characters have sex and how they react to each other is a reflection of their personalities and their place in the story. Honestly, I think a lot of furry porn writers actually go too far in terms of trying to flesh their characters out...the first 80% of the story will be an elaborate prose about the characters or some situation, then they'll randomly have sex at the end. To me, those stories are a waste of time because the plot and the sex are too disjoint. I think that your work is some of the best out there because not only do you have great characterizations, but they directly build up to the sex scenes, which reinforce the characterizations and move the plot along. Sex only means something if the characters mean something to the reader, and I think you nail that right on the head. So to answer your quick question, my answer is...I dunno just keep doing what you're doing!

OP
It's true that I don't view them as discrete objects. It's possible to write a story with no porn, and one or two of my upcoming stories might be pornless. It's also possible to write a story that focuses on the mechanics of sex with not much focus on character development.

Porn is nice, but it's the rare porn-filled, plotless story that compels me to read out of something other than weird fascination.
