hiya peoples!
so here's what's happening. i reallyreallyrealyreallyreally want to make it to AnthroCon this year. and i have some friends who reallyreallyreallyreallyreally want me to make it to AnthroCon this year. but right now...i can't. there's no way. cuz i need money for school MORE than all that. i need about $1000 left for the fall semester, and then another big chunk to stay there through spring to graduate (yes, graduate. so excited. it's just a business associates from a so-so community college, but still!). so i can't just say "screw it" and go to AC anyway, because school is top priority.
i want to see if i can make enough money to pay for the fall semester AND AnthroCon in a small(ish) amount of time. so about...$1500. and then after that i can worry about the spring semester. maybe i'll actually have a job by then. anyway, i'm thinking about doing something like i did around christmas where i took a bunch of commissions and then set a deadline for myself to have them finished by the time April started. i was successful with that, but it was very stressful and i told my friends not to let me do it again. i am now making the excuse that i was in school then, so summer will be less stressful XP OR something like another Iron Artist, but fewer pictures in "batches"
so i'm looking for batches and deals and plans that i can make to get me this money. i know I personally like drawing one- or two-character pictures with minimal backgrounds and at least SOME idea/guidance from the commissioner (not completely free reign for me), and there would have to be a lot of more expensive things (CellShaded/FullColor/RefSheets/Etc) to make this goal happen. i'm also working on some ACEO originals and prints that i can sell, as well as prints of already-made images.
but what i want to know if what do YOU want? what kind of commissions are YOU all interested in ordering? this link has all of my commission information, prices, and examples with the exception of the big expensive lineless things like this, which are crazy detailed and start at $120. if you're interested in helping and commissioning me next time i open (or, y'know, if you can't commission me or aren't planning to, but still have ideas), i would really appreciate feedback! ^_^ it'll help me figure out exactly what i should do and what i should open for, how many slots of what type, etc!
just a note that Sales and the like probably won't work here because that actually gets me less money and more work
this will, of course, be AFTER i make good progress on my current commission queue, as i still have a few people waiting and i don't want them to wait any longer! so there's a still a small bit of time to gather info/feedback and plan! (also i'm REALLY sorry to you guys waiting T.T)
EEP, sorry this got so long and rambly! you all should know by now that i talk a lot in here when i get to it XP
TL;DR:
AAAHHHH i need $1500 for school/AC! WHAT DO?!?!
leave feedback on what types of commissions YOU want!!
this'll happen in a week or two, when my list is smaller
-Nix
((P.S.-- of course, not going to AnthroCon is always an option. it's just not preferred))

GUYS. SHE HAS TO COME TO ANTHROCON. SERIOUSLY I NEED HER THERE PLZ ♥
Maybe you can do a few "wing-it" commissions? I've seen some artists do it. Where they just give you their character and you play around and draw them however you want and stuff, with some suggestions I think, but it's mostly what you feel like drawing. That might help take the stress off of having to draw a commission to the T of what the artist wants. And then you can just have fun with it and stuff :3
And even though I can never afford them, I loooove your YCH and Character Design Auctions, kinda for the same reason that I like the Wing-It commissions. It gives the artist the freedom to do what they want, and still create a gorgeous piece that the buyer loves. I know I personally get suuuuper picky about what I want to draw, and if I'm drawing for people, if I don't like what I'm drawing, it takes foreeeeeever to finish o3o
TL;DR: Chibis (especially ACEO versions)
Wing-it commissions
YCH pose auctions
Character Design Auctions (or adoptables... maybe more CheshireKats?)
i do love my YCHs and Character Auctions though. i actually have a few more ideas for them if people are interested and i ever get the time to put them together
and YUS, chibis and ACEOs! i'm so excited about them both!
well at least I had a couple good suggestions ^^
DO IT DO IT DO IT!
and, thank you! i've been thinking about getting tables at cons for a while, but i haven't been to many and i'm always worried i'll miss out on stuff. it's definitely something i want to do in the future sometime though!
Well, you still have to keep a slot open for my crazy epic giganormous ref sheet, darling, which will be... I think next week somewhere, depending on whether my vacation money will be credited to my bank account at the same time as my pay check (in my experience, they tend to do it a couple days later though). And you know what? I lately realized something... my most popular characters are Mara and Celeste, and... they don't have official ref sheets yet! Oh noes! I need ref sheets for them! And since you have drawn them together once already, and because you're so awesome, and because your ref sheets are so so awesome, I need you get their ref sheets done by you!
hehe, i was actually thinking about you yesterday when i was doing all of this stuff. i didn't know when exactly you'd be ordering the big ref, so i was like "welllll if i take like 20 commissions at one time and go crazy, then i just have to make sure i have room to take Zin's ref sheet when she's ready for it!!" XD so i am all prepared!
Aww, and thank you, too! Hee! Yes, in a week my paycheck will be in, and I do expect my vacation payment as well, so if all go as I expect, I will be ordering the huge epic giganormous ref sheet of my tall fluffy winged calico self from you sometime next week! Although if they're being a jerk with my vacation payment (which is pretty much the money I allocated to the ref sheet) and only pay me that with my July paycheck, then unfortunately I will have to wait another month before ordering it. But either way it's so great to know you're all prepared for it, darling! Hee! Now I just gotta make sure I have all my own preparations made... I still need to do that little "cat-rug" view to show how my markings connect on my back (under the wings), and I need to make sure I have all the text ready too! Hee! =~.^=
