The rReturn of the Pantheress

I am finally back for my trip to Canada after 14 hours of driving. 3 of it was on a 20 miles stretch of dirt road that has to be taken VERY slowly.
Anyway, the trip went fast but it was a lot of fun as well. We stayed at a little place called Lake Ogascanan. It is a rather oddly shaped lake that runs roughly 15 miles north and about 8 wide. Here is a picture of it as well as the lodge we stayed at. http://www.ogascanan.com/images/topographical.jpg
We stayed at the Main Camp which as you can see is on the bottom left of the image. It took about an hour to get all the way north. The main fishes we were targets were Northern Pike and Walleye. Both have really nasty sets of teeth that can cut you deeply. Sadly we went the week after opening season which means that their spawning and feeding frenzy were over with. The fishing was pretty shitty but it got better towards the end of the week.
At nights were the best though. Six guys (holy shit I just gave my gender away) sitting around drinking beer and bullshitting. We talked about everything from fish to politics. Plus there were plenty of crude jokes made.
The only downsides were the fishing and the bugs. There was a severe lack of fish until Thursday, where we got into the walleye, and Friday, where we started getting some good pike. As for the bugs, there was a massive amount of black flies and mosquitoes. They were so bad you would walk outside and be blinded by them swarming you.
Over all the trip was fun. Sadly I do not think it was really worth a 14 hour drive and we are looking at Moosehead Lake in Maine as the next trip.

I'm glad you had a good time, I hope you brought a lot of bug spray. ;)
