Character Idea
So on the 14 hour ride back from Canada my mind began to wander. One thing I do not see often in the furry community for character ideas are plant/animal hybrids. We let out imagination run wild with crux, sparkle dogs, and every type of mythical creature out there. Yet I personally have never really seen a plant/animal mix. I know it really shouldn't work since the DNA for both is SO very different. I really do not care though. If a person is able to mix a Dragon with pretty much any animal then I can think up something mixed with plants.
Here is where I get hung up though. For the life of me I cannot think up a good combination. The only detail that is stuck in my mind is to have the feet look like roots. Kind of in a "stompy paw" style
Anyone out there that can think of something that would look good? Sleek and slender with a hint of mystery. some type of ivy keep popping into my head as well but I just cannot think of good little details.

A couple of ideas that came to mind almost immediately are...
+ An elephant/baobab hybrid -- since elephants are are thick and stout and strong and already have relatively trunk-like feet, this would be pretty easy to add some tendrils to the base and make it 'tree-like' -- not to mention, have branches with leaves growing in various places as well, a green tinge to the otherwise gray-hide and voilla. Not exactly sleek, but it's the first idea that that popped into my mind.
+ Another idea might be a pin oak or maple/deer combination. Hoofers gonna hoof, and our friendly hoofer friends tend to hang out where there are plenty of these around. If you want to throw in something that could have an adult angle, the sweetness of maple sap could come into play there (or perhaps everyone just likes having the hoofer around because they smell sweet and pleasant!)
+ Just for kicks and grins, I'm going to throw out the idea of an elderflower tree/ermine mix. You'll notice most of my ideas center around trees -- this is because there are tons of them and trees are rigid, strong, and durable. I have another plant idea out in the mix, though. The Elderflower Ermine would indeed be nice and slinky, smell of elderberries (hah hah), and also come into bloom at least once a year (and smell intoxicatingly delicious during that time of the year). Paws could be very stompy like on this guy, and the hands? Those claws function as both claws and can extend into the ground (or anything else) and anchor the ermine just like roots.
+ For a bit of variation, let's do a switchgrass/fox hybrid. The secretive and elusive nature of the common Vulpes vulpes makes it and the switchgrass a natural combination. Switchgrass laced into the pelt, along with slightly modified coloration, makes it easier for this little guy to hide in dense foliage -- or look like some, and he can also root into the ground to stay stable.
No idea if you can use any of these. If you can, feel free.
For the frilly loving furries... flowers. Rose bush (or any flower/tree/bush with thorns) mixed with a feline with sharp claws. Or perhaps a wolf mixed with the native trees to the type of wolf chosen?
A hummingbird mixed with a mandevilla or other big tubular tropical flower vine that they love to thrive on...
