I agree. They also need to do something about the never-ending flood of useless "streaming noooow!!" submissions.

Yeah. It works for journals, but I believe it only works on Firefox (don't know if you're using it or not) and for submissions (for me anyway), it only works if the criteria you wanna block is in the tags. I've tried blocking certain things, and I still get them cuz they just don't use tags.

But my mate claims they still work for titles of submissions, so it could just be me. FA's always been stupid with me.

ahhhhhhhhh I'm so glad someone feels the same way I'm so sick of it. And it's so often you can find it on the front page and it's just like keep those in scraps if anything's a sketch, those are.

Not until the FA staff put some focus on upgrading the site.

Considering just how many times they've done donation runs for hardware replacements why the hell have they never done one to raise the money to hire a coder for however long they can get a quote on it taking to recode the site?

Seriously, do a donation drive or make a kickstarter to get the site fixed. I'm sure there are even artists out there who'd help out with the reward tiers by offering art like many do at con auctions.

True, but that's assuming it's well coded as-is. I have no idea how good or bad the code is, but then that's for the professional to decide.

Maybe they will build on what is already there, or maybe they will find that it's too much of a mess to work with and faster and more secure to start over and transfer the accounts [most likely minus current comments and journals.]

Then again, I didn't actually mean to write recode anyway XD I meant redesign and add the features we want.

As far as FA's codebase, I don't know how good it is or not, but it's mature and it's pretty stable. It's been tested under all sorts of crazy operating conditions for years. I remember when FA first came out, it had all kinds of problems, almost all the time. Capacity, reliability, security, you name it. These things were gradually fixed and what we have today is much more stable and usable than what was originally put in place.

Kudos to the FA coding team, who ever you are.

They wanted to heap abuse on me when I suggested, quite honestly, that they should be looking for actual sales techniques - like good service and targeted solicitation - to make money without alienating customers and making them devalue their work? Fine. Don't have to watch them or give them my money at all!

I don't mind that they want to make money. If these auctions work, then my all means, do them. Artists gotta make a living.

I'd just like to filter that stuff out because I'm not interested. It'd be great if it was an opt-in or opt-out kind of thing, rather than everybody sees it all and it's difficult to turn off.

The AUP does not apply equally to all FA members. I have some gripes about things in the past where I was held to a different standard than I feel others are. Anyway, boo hoo hoo, what do I expect for free? :)
