it is, but that's the point

like skruff said below,
it's very easy to just press a button and make music in fl studio, and it's easy to pirate, so that's all anyone ever does with it. i'm not explicitly criticizing fl studio (although i do think it's the worst daw on the market right now) i'm criticizing literally the entire furry fandom who's making shitty edm with it and the legions of high schoolers and college freshmen who suddenly think they're amazing musicians
lol, unfortunately a true statement. FL Studio is a goddamn beast, especially now that they're on 11. That limiter is an amazing monster.
...But it's also the easiest DAW to understand pirate. So MILLIONS of people who know nothing about music suddenly think they know how to make it. By using like 3% of FL. Saddens me. But at least BT tried it out the other day and said something like "Are you kidding me how powerful this is?" on Twiitter.
fl studio is just...
regardless of how powerful it is, that doesn't mean anything if you can't actually use it. jeez, what a godawful interface
then again the last versions of fl studio i used were 9 and 10
it's just hands down the single most poorly designed daw on the market, and because of that i'd argue that it's the worst
even audacity makes more sense
lol, I'd have to say my opinion differs from yours there on that. I think that FL has one of the best interfaces for a DAW, you just have to know your way around. ESPECIALLY for placing/adjusting notes with a mouse; if you're using a MIDI keyboard, then it's sort of whatever. I've used Audactiy, Cubase, Reaper, Garage Band, and Pro Tools, and it's still my favorite user interface out of them all, workflow just makes good visual sense to me.
That being said, if hip hop producers get a hold of it and don't know how to use anything but the step sequencer... it's gonna come out shit. Not much you can do about that. XD
Bleh. I don't do a lot of step sequencing so I guess there's my problem.
I dunno. I'm still mighty fond of Logic+Garageband and you really really can't beat Live
then again Live is kind of in a class of its own
I suppose I should have mentioned Logic as well, I have two certifications in that program. XD Their sounds are mighty awesome, but I can ever get it to stop hitting in the red ALL THE TIME. lol
Live seems amazing for live mixing, which isn't a thing I do really. I don't tend to like loop-based programs, I haven't actually used it tho, just got an overview pretty much of regular workflow.
Yea, if you don't do a lot of mouse/MIDI work, FL would probably not be an ideal program for how you write. FL and Logic are about the same to, although Logic comes with much better default sounds and synths. I dunno, the more I use, the more I realize this all comes down to preference. They all do the same stuff, each with a few different perks here and there, it's all about whatever you're most familiar/comfortable with.
Ive been using FL XXL8 and Ive been using ableton, Ive been working with ableton more recently, but I feel they are both fantastic pieces of art. I havent made anything in a while and what I do have is dook WIP that my hard drive wiped out, Ive never really given it a second go... Think I might hit up a buddy tonight and see what we can do.
I've been using FLstudio since like 2002, and I STILL have only skimmed the surface of what it has to offer, people like Screamfox know way more about it than I. I have been using it more recently tho, just because the limiter on the master output makes everything sound so awesome. XD Yay cheating.
