Extreme nerdyness alert!Being a huge fan of both...I've always wanted to see something like Star Trek vs. Star Wars!
Try to guess the outcome before watching!

As far as the sentient lifeforms go...that's a whole nother journal entry right there! But for me, even the Star Wars aliens are still too humanoid - sure they have better costumes instead of just having ridges glued to their foreheads, but they are all still upright bipedal humanoids with opposable thumbs, except for Jabba The Hutt, and there doesn't seem like there was even a race of his kind...
I'd like to see more variety of sentient beings like the Horta from Star Trek: The Campy Generation, or the Navigators from Dune, or the intelligent Dolphins from David Brin's Startide Rising...
•The Star Wars technology didn't seem to have any shielding technology that didn't involve slabs of reinforced metal.
•Their capital ships are very unmanuverable and large compared to the Federation (or Klingons or Romulans or Jem-Hadar...).
•The Death Star's weapon could seriously only be used against something as large and slow as a planet or Star Destroyer.
•They are very dependant on Tie-Fighters which could be all quickly taken out by a couple of starships.
•And they are stupid enough to build their Death Star with blast ports that lead to their reactor chamber allowing a single photon torpedo to destroy the entire thing. Mr. Worf would have picked that weakness up on sensors within minutes of contact!
•Also the Star Trek crews (also Klingons, Romulans) are highly trained, creative and motivated individuals...the Empire ships are commanded by guys afraid for their very lives if they make one mistake, and their stormtroopers can't see where they're going and bang their head when they enter a room and couldn't hit the broad side of Jabba The Hutt with their blasters!
I think it's a matter of how many Federation ships there are, and if any Klingons, Romulans or others are assisting them. Because the Empire's fleets shown in the movies are very massive indeed!
