New Laptop and Anthrocon

I recently just bought myself a lovely little Acer laptop for 375, a small sacrifice from my savings, what a joy it is, it's so cute and small and I'm crossing my fingers that I will be able to play my favorite games on it and that it has a strong graphics card ^^
I really want to try Second life but every laptop or PC I own is incapable of handling the game )=

As for Anthrocon, I will officially be attending this coming 2009, my plans are solidified now all I need to worry about is pre-registration(as I don't have a credit card), finding a place to stay and possibly a ride (if Kah doesn't bail on me)
Though, kindest, my mother even offered to drive me there in the event seeing as a 6 hour drive really isn't too bad when you think of it but I would never burden her with that V.V" My alternate plans for travel will most likely be by plane or Amtrak as most of you kindly suggested!
I'm excited to meet all of my fellow artists there and if I'm really lucky I may sport a seat in the artists alley to sell prints and commissions ^^!

SECONDLIFE-- DON'T DO IT
you're doing fine in your first one, keep doing what you're doing now and maybe you won't end up like them
but if you do secondlife, this may be the tipping point; it's either SL or, something more productive, such as an education or career
trust me, i've seen what these sort of games do to people; I mean, look at WoW

I use a decent graphics card that makes SL run fine on my computer, a 7600, it's only 70 bucks on Newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ.....82E16814130068 All you need to make sure of is that you have a motherboard that supports PCI-E. If you can do 2.0, then you can get something a lot better, too.
