How? He didn't make them suffer, as far as I can tell by reading the article. And me and all the other kids I knew had been around their parents hunting and skinning, or otherwise killing and butchering livestock from the time we were old enough to follow our folks outside.

They called the Humane Society so that they would take the cats away and kill them chemically, then cart their bodies off to a butchery to be turned into dog and cat food.

Yeah and not everyone is raised the same. This man had other options, he could have taken them away to be put down chemically, could have made calls to other places to find room, or hell called the news to maybe have them put up an advertisement to get them adopted. But instead he did something really really stupid. There is always a another way to deal with something.

Let's be realistic here. Of the thousands of feral companion animals in a given city only about a dozen make it to the local news any given week. And yes, those dozen are guaranteed a home. But for the rest of those pets? Any one of those kittens that were adopted, was another cute little kitty that would have been put down. There is no ideal solution here.

These people were just forced to see the consequences of their actions. She thought she could just tell her kids the big LIE, "We'll call the Humane Society and they'll get adopted by a good home," and that everything would be okay, knowing FULL WELL that those kittens would get put down in less than a month.

The only situation that would have turned out well for these kittens was for that mother to cowgirl up and adopt them herself. She had an opportunity to teach her kids about responsibility and mercy, but instead they received a lesson about the immediate consequences of your actions

Dead in their lawn, or dead in the shelter, those kittens would have died either way. The mother is the villain here.

I live on a farm and we have feral cats around. They can be dicks but for the most part do not bother others or myself nor the animals we keep from time to time. This sort if thing however isn't uncommon, cops shoot animals quite often without any thought if alternatives. Sometimes I agree with their judgment situation depending but in this case I just gotta hope this guy looses his job. At that age they were of no danger to anyone and could have easily been tamed an adopted from a pound in a weeks time.

To be honest let me say that I don't typically support animals over humans, I don't see them as a lot of people do but in this case I can see no reason to disagree that this fellow is a monster. I've had up put down more than a few animals around here before but I've spent weeks eye dropper feeding bird chicks and rabbits and bottle feeding calves. It's just life for me and if I know there's an alternative ill Persue it over death of an animal unless its in a dangerous place or acting overly aggressive.

Yeah I can understand that sometimes yes animals have to be put down and it is sad but at least they are given a chance to try and find a home. If they dont have a chance then at least they are put down and properly put to rest, not shot and just left there.
