Can't speak for the parade route (though they're aware of the issue), but the Alley tables will be pulled forward a bit toward the front, hopefully to make them seem not so far removed from the DR <-> Art Show traffic. The big wall is there to stay, though, 'cause of the DR layout. And they might add another panel this year, to give a place for the Con Store line to gather (last year it kept bleeding into the pedestrian traffic). It probably would be better to shrink the command center and bring the Con Store further north (in toward the back), so we could have one or two fewer panels and still get away with it. I'll see if we can tweak things in time for this year, but might be a next year thing.

Although we did seem segregated last year, our sales were on par with the year before, even though we had a less full Alley each day. So the average per-artist sales were actually UP from the previous non-segregated year. But, I'm sure there were other factors at work as well, like some degree of economic recovery from 2011, and such.

Anyhow, glad you're able to make it, and I hope you do well this year. :)

Thanks, Rooth! You're doing a kick-ass job with this. The Alley is a huge reason I like to attend AC.

It's still done by lottery, but before the convention. The results were posted a couple of days ago. This lets the artists - and attendees - plan their time more easily and not have to get up at a godawfully early hour for what may ultimately prove to be no reason at all.

There are still a couple of seats set aside for on-site walk-ins, and of course there's a waiting list that works like a "deli system," too (first come, first served, using numbered tickets).

I have marked my calendar for kitty pestering. :)
