MancFurs Summer Tea Room Crawl – 14th July 2013
12 years ago
To those new to the event, it's on the Sunday of the MancFurs meet, so it's a bit more relaxed and casual, and allows furs to socialise with each other without it being in a big bar, loud music, fursuits, events etc, but over tea, coffee, cakes, maybe a bit of lunch and the such, and in a more mature and relaxed atmosphere. We tend to stay at each venue for between an hour and two hours.
The plan is that we will meet at Piccadilly Rail Station between 11am and 12pm, then head off to the first of three venues.
The first venue is Richmond Tea Rooms, which is Victorian era, and styled with an Alice in Wonderland theme in one room, and a traditional lodge/gentlemen's club in another room.
The second venue is Sugar Junction, which is 1940's era, and styled with a "granny's parlour" type theme, complete with winged armchairs with tassels.
The final venue is different this time. Previously it was Teacup on Thomas Street, but it gets too busy to accommodate our number of tea crawlers, so I'm changing the final venue to Nexus Art Café, which isn't strictly speaking a tea room, but it does tea and cakes and is a more comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, in the current era.
All of the venues take cards, but I would recommend cash for Nexus Art Café, as they have a minimum purchase amount on a card, and then a card charge.
Instead of taking numbers of attendees this time (as last time I took a list, but loads more came!), I'm simply going to go ahead and try and reserve 20 places at the first two venues (Nexus is more casual, we can just collapse on couches there!). It'll really be 'first come first served' with said 20 spaces, but even if you don't get one of those, we usually are able to get more tables and seats nearby anyway.
As we'll finish at Nexus, you can stay there as long as you like, so feel free to bring a card game or two, or your sketchbooks if you feel like drawing etc.
I'd like to point out though, that given the nature of this event, I wouldn't recommend wearing ears/tails etc, and please, no fursuits.
