Our Star Wars club has a forum (for 10 years now) in order to help us organize the workshops, the meetings, the events, the trips etc..
Lately 2 or 3 people are like "buuuut.. we don't like foruuuuuuums.. why don't you create a facebooooook?"
This was discussed in a meeting, and we agreed that this would be a BAD idea, as a Facebook wouldn't have any "structure" and we'd have to scroll through 250 posts to find who said where he/she was going to which event or attend which workshops..
So the idea was scrapped.
I was quite surprised when i received an invite to a "Prospectors FB group" the other day....
I logged in and put a message on that wall reminding the creator that "it was decided in the meeting it was not a good idea, that we will keep the forum :)".
The guy started arguing "yes, i know, but i wanted to create one, just to see if it would work". I repeated "We have a forum, it's far more useful than a FB group, due to it's structure, don't encourage the laziness, this system worked for 10 years +, it will continue :)".
This was approved and elaborated on by our President and my twin.
The creator of the FB group then went completely nuts on me saying that "i was refusing any initiative, and didn't respected them", that "he would do like the others then and don't do anything anymore, as when he wanted to do something it was to be slapped down, and yadda yadda yadda..."
He then removed me from his Fb friendlist, destroyed the group and refuses to even speak to me anymore... I shrugged, as he's known for being quite short-tempered....
Yesterday, he was complaining on the forum that a seller from UK refuses to send to Belgium an item he needs for his costume and offered to him that i'd ask a UK furry friend to get the parcel and re-ship it to us..
He didn't even bothered to answer..
When i re-asked him the day after: "do i contact my friend?" All i got was:
"No."
A "no, thank you " would have been appreciated...
Well.. i held out my hand after being bitten (for no reason), only to be bitten again... He can go fuck himself then..
I did nothing wrong and suddently i'm the Devil's incarnate?

Some people really got the NERVES... What you CAN do is making your own FB group... and those who do not like it, YOU can kick THEM out...

the whole point is we don't NEED one.. e have a forum.. We won't change something that works for AGES just because 2/3 people are too lazy to go on another webpage than FB ...
