Breaking News Regarding the worlds largest "Ex-gay" Ministry

Exodus International, the world's largest "Ex-Gay" Ministry, plans to shut down. This shortly came after an apology by the ministry about what they had done to individuals who were Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual. The founder realized that there was nothing they could do to redeem their image or trust so they are shutting it down and starting a new ministry to reevaluate their connections with the LGBT community and accept them as they are and not focus on what some perceive as sin:

I was completely shocked by this news. I didn't expect "their" side to take action to stop the harm they were doing. In fact I questioned the purpose of the petition...is there a point to it now? Should we continue to try and make a new law making those things that were done in harm to other people?
I talked with a couple people and they thought that the petition still holds a purpose because it still holds an issue. It is still an issue: there are still "ex-gay" ministries and there are individuals who want to change us. This is proof (not trying to throw it in their face but showing this as example) that this is a harmful action to do and there are victims. So the petition will still go forward, and we hope to make it public very soon.

"Please know that I am deeply sorry. I am sorry for the pain and hurt many of you have experienced. I am sorry that some of you spent years working through the shame and guilt you felt when your attractions didn’t change. I am sorry we promoted sexual orientation change efforts and reparative theories about sexual orientation that stigmatized parents. I am sorry that there were times I didn’t stand up to people publicly “on my side” who called you names like sodomite—or worse. I am sorry that I, knowing some of you so well, failed to share publicly that the gay and lesbian people I know were every bit as capable of being amazing parents as the straight people that I know. I am sorry that when I celebrated a person coming to Christ and surrendering their sexuality to Him that I callously celebrated the end of relationships that broke your heart. I am sorry that I have communicated that you and your families are less than me and mine. "
