Thank you
It's been a little over 2 years since I've started writing pervy little stories for the fandom, and in looking back at it all, I am just amazed and incredibly grateful for all the support and encouragement I've received from people in the community.
Long before I took the plunge and wrote my first story, I knew very well that the furry fiction community doesn't get much attention. I don't really blame anyone for it: the fandom was founded on art, and as humans we're awfully visual creatures anyway… heck, what is it: something like 30% of the brain is dedicated to vision? Something like that. Meanwhile, reading is boring, time-consuming, and lacks visual appeal. It requires steady attention and a good imagination to fully appreciate, and not everybody wants to put up with that.
With all that being said, I never once had many expectations for my writing. I honestly still don't have many expectations: if someone takes time to earnestly read just one of my stories I am pleasantly surprised.
This is why it is even more of a shock to me to see exactly how much support and encouragement and generosity I have received from people in the community: the artists who draw fan art of my characters, the readers who support my original work by commissioning additional chapters, the people who offer to proofread and critique my stories for me, the fans who share and post my work, the friends I've met who inspire me to write more… and lots others.
As far as other writers go I've had far more success than most at getting my work out there. Far more than I could have ever expected. And in face of all this, the very least I can do is to go out and express my thanks to everyone involved.
In particular, I really have to thank
evalion and
syrinoth for their incredible generosity in all the fan art they've drawn and the support they've given me. I am blown away by the amount of times they've brought my characters to life on pad and paper, especially considering that they do so without expecting anything in return, and while still managing to keep up on their commission queue as well. All the art they have drawn have attracted many new readers who were curious as to the story behind the characters depicted. And in addition to the art, Syrinoth in particular has given me many opportunities and opened doors that would have otherwise not been possible for me, which I am very grateful for.
I also have to thank
narse for his support and his pen. Not only has he commissioned several stories from me, he also has drawn fan art of my stories a number of times. Most of them were never finished, but the one painting he did complete and upload brought my writing an incredible amount of exposure that I otherwise would have never recieved. Even a fraction of Narse's watchers is still a huge amount of people… and they are people that probably would have never visited my profile otherwise. I cannot remember how many pages of new watchers I had to clear over the next few days after Narse uploaded his painting! Being the first one to draw Nixi, Narse also had a hand in designing her appearance, and I don't think I could have asked for a better artist for such a job. Thanks so much, Narse.
I am also thankful for the staff at SoFurry for featuring a number of my stories on their site and even granting me an official interview!
And of course, I also need to thank everyone else who has ever drawn fan art, or has ever paid for a commission, or has supported me and my writing in some other way. Just please… don't make me list everyone by name!
....
You know, the question I ask myself after looking at what my writing has accomplished so far… is what it can accomplish in the future. To be frank, I have no friggen clue. I'm still not sure if I am cut out for this writing stuff, or if I can find enough enjoyment in it to try turning it into something larger than a side hobby. I'm not even sure if I can find success in more mainstream (read: less adult-rated) venues. Hm, maybe this is a topic for another journal.… Regardless, I think its pretty cool that I am considering such options in the first place. The first story I wrote was my decision, but it's been all the encouragement and support from others that's kept me writing as many stories as I have.
As weird as it sounds, I never would have found a talent for writing if I didn't get encouraged to belt out pervy little porn stories and post them on the internet.
So to all those out there: thank you.

I'm rather new to your works, but I'm usually much more interested in the writing side of things, and your writing is a pleasant sight in the hordes of "an den dey kizd an bangd iz hawt hurr", haha! And I'm glad to have...uh...complimented(?) your writing, ^π^
Now, looking back, I realize one thing...
Damn...
What was your realization? Did you forget to finish your thought, or were you just hoping I would ask about it first?
Well, I realized a few things that could easily be summarized as "damn..."
One, is that you were the first famous person to ever acknowledge my existence and reply to my comments. The other, is that this was the first well written (grammatically, spelling, and plot wise) series on the internet I've ever read.
Finally, Dragon Ranch was the first pornographic story to make me cry at the end, which is very tough to write.
lol
I am not famous. XD I'm not even internet famous. Where do you even get this idea?
Most people don't recognize my name, and if they do, they don't care because I don't draw. My art's more "famous" than me... Hell, unless the art is explicit, most people will refer to Nixi as a "he" when they leave a comment. That should tell you a lot.
Then again, real fame is probably pretty nice...
As for trying to make a go at that mass-market printing, I would have to say that my experience would suggest that you need to be very good at making sales. That's about the only thing that would get a mass-market publisher to even acknowledge anything they might receive from you. It all comes down to how much money they might make from you.
That being said, I must say that I hope you never give up your writing as a side hobby, and that you always find enjoyment in it.
Best wishes to you always, and zhai'helleva!
I don't know if i have read many storys from you, but i have read your Journal Entry here. First i have thought, you where on a Oscar ceremony for the best story and reads your thank you speech.
But if you feel so, it is Okay.

As an Write Artist myself i can say you something over to this: The Talent comes with the Time and the Fun on making it.
When I today read my first storys i have written in the Past, I hammer my Head and thing: Man, was I a horrible writer!
Today I can write Fan based Storys, that are good to read and bring the Pictures they tell, right to the Inner Eyes of the Readers.
Sorry my english is not the best. It is enough to one or the other post to write here, but it's enough for adult stories not absolute. Therefore, all of my stories in German here and there are more English speaking members as German language, I also get far less resonance.
But that's okay, because I'm representing a few German language forums, where I found the corresponding missing here, get resonance. :D
For you i say: Do what you can the best to bring your imaginary Pictures to your Fans. When its Painting, then Paint, when its writing, then write and if you have fun on it, make it as often as you can till the Moment your Brain is empty. Then take some Hollydays, collect new inspiration and go on with writing. :D
It gives so many stuff, where you can write over: A Day on a Farm, on the Beach, a shopping spree in a big City, a Tour to a City in an other Coutry or Land, a tour through a National Park like Yellowstone....
In one of my storys, i have brought on a 3 Chapter long Beach Hollyday Adventure in it and it was realy funny to write it, notwithstanding that i was the last time on a Sea Beach in my childhood, long long ago.
So, go on with your writings, trust your Friends, Fans and your Dreams and have Fun by what you do.
Than you can make all possible what you like to show your Fans in your Storys.
Oh, and it is matter if it is a Porn Story or not. There must you like to write about it!
So long. :D
What I need to focus on is figuring out what I enjoy about writing the most and explore how far I can take it. MY problem is that I don't know where to begin.
But, the right way to start you must find yourself.
Your work was a part of the reason why I started writing my own silly little stories, not as long or elaborate, but I've had some decent feedback (especially on Origins Act 1&2 if you're vaguely interested). Getting back into writting after 15 years is great.
Keep doing what you enjoy doing. That's the only advice there is.
Do you NEED it to be more than what you've got at the moment? Honesty, life is a crazy fucked up thing as it is, why does it need to be anything more than that?
What do you feel you are missing at the moment? (holy shit this could get deep...)
