I've been homeless. several times. ...I'm homeless (on paper) now - my name is not on a lease or deed, but I have my awesome Hawk (partner of 5 years) who keeps me safe from myself and keeps a roof over my head when shit happens (as it certainly will).
last time, I got kicked out of a half-way house and was lucky enough to have a generous and trusting friend who let me crash at his place for two or three weeks while he was out of town. that was when I quit smoking, not for health reasons, but because I could only come up with $2(USD) a day and it was "smoke or eat" - sometimes a tough decision. When I think back on those times, I'm so grateful to be where I am today.
You will get through this, and hopefully you will become a better person for it - I did.

(love the title btw...if you've never had shitty knuckles, you ain't livin' !)
