I don't know if connect well with other furs on FA..

Most are half my age... I guess It's just me feelin' old.

Been thinking about this over the time I've been on here..

Don't know if the younger furs connect with me... (Honestly I feel why would they?) Seems the majority that I've watched or at least communicate with are in their 20's... I've met some furs that are my age and maybe older. But maybe that's why I feel outta place sometimes. Trying to find a way outta the funk I'm in... (Kinda hard to do seeing as I'm a Skunk .. there's not enough tomato juice in the world for that.. so best thing might be to start putting ketchup on everything..) Anyways.. Just some of my random and current thoughts. Keep Jammin..

I know the feeling, sometimes I find it hard to connect because of my age as well... maybe it's not so bad with be because I look younger than I really am. :3

Thanks.. But if you get chance to see me at one of the LAFF bowl meets.. I'll be the one shaking a cane at all the other furs.. nah... j/k but I look older than I am

Nah, age doesn't matter. If you have a hobby that you like to pursue, then go for it. I don't feel like I connect well here at all, but I stay pretty introverted to myself in general here so I can't complain too much. Definitely though.. don't worry about age. Colonel Sanders felt out of place all of his life, said, "F* it. I'm going to be remembered" and started a business when he was like 60.. which we know today as KFC. So yeah. lol. IT'S NEVER TOO LATE!!

I'm sorry you feel that way dude! But I totally agree with the commenter above me, there were plenty of furries way out of their twenties at AC and they were fittin' in just fine and stuff!

With this being an internet driven subgroup it can be really hard to connect with it if you dont have a lot of furries around you that you mesh with (that's the boat I'm in!), but for the friendships and stuff like that forged in the fandom, it is well worth it to stick it out, I promise!

I was having these same thoughts tonight (i fact, I was gunna write a journal on it!), especially since my 50th birthday is in a week. All these 20-somethings laughing and carrying on, and I'm left out, wondering what they're all laughing about. And of course, even tho I act a hell of a lot younger than I am, they stick together and do things between themselves, and seldom ask if I wanna join in.

I guess its all bout hanging with your own age group now; its hard to break down the lines.

Well happy birthday in advance! Well I hope my post helped us both in that regard. I guess somewhere someone in the fandom in their 60's (and I'm watching a few) might be thinking the same about furs in their 40's ... Hmmm I wonder..

Actually, most 60 yo furs don't mind the 40, even the 30 somethings. But, I will say that they do have issues with some of the teen/young 20 yo furs. Mainly because their social interaction skills aren't quite up to par yet; they're still feeling out what they can and shouldn't do. And of course there's the Generation Gap. No matter how young we feel, they are always younger.

This is, of course, my opinion, but I have seen and spoken to others about it in the past.

Sometimes I do wonder if Its something I said... but believe me its never offensive.. but I think sometimes I forget that they might not get what I said because it might something that an older person would get... and I catch myself saying stuff like that. Thanks.

I sometimes share this feeling too. I've been in the fandom a long. two decades will approach in a couple of years. Thats kinda crazy. Every year i get a little older, and yah.. It does seem more and more awkward to connect with other furs who are younger. I see them as being like myself back then, but still i cant seem to find any interest in a lot of things that they find interesting..

Wow.. I've known about the fandom for years and I see watch others that are new to FA but have known about it join so I'm always watching seeing how they're handling it. I have people on my job younger than me that I see everyday at work we kid around and stuff.. and I like some of the stuff they like. So I dunno why I see this as different. Oh well only time will tell ... long as I work at meeting and getting to know others in this.. I think I'll be fine.. Thanks!

I have really never found any direct link between age and personality. Yes, the folks my age will get a particular cultural ref if I mention it, and/or I probably won't get one that someone younger than I am might make, but for me it's all about individuals. If you're someone that I can get along with, we'll be friends - if not, probably not. Online-wise, I'm always runninjg into artists that I met and/or encouraged waaay back in the days of Yerf, and it is always an honor. Yes it makes me feel old - but it's a good old. ^_^

Thanks for this comment... I guess I'm still feeling my way around this.. at most I'm a friendly person and those points you made resonate well with me. I'm gonna work more at having fun with all this.. not that I'm not already having that.. but there's always room for improvement.
