AnthroCon 2013 Recap~!!
Oh man this Anthrocon was by far the best, and probably the best fur con I've ever been to. I did many new things, met a ton of awesome new folks and really just enjoyed every bit of it.
We arrived Thursday the 4th, sometime in the evening. We wanted to suit and catch the fireworks so thats pretty much what we did XD I had never worn Lila out before, so this was her very first outing. Before I even got my badge I bumped into
the cutie pie Squeaky Corgi. She was so sweet, and we chatted a bit and then parted ways.
Went to register and then went up to the roof. It started raining, and was lighting so everyone had to come off the deck. Fortunately though it was short lived, and we found a nice spot overlooking a pretty bridge and I took lots of neat photos.
Friday was Artist Alley day. I conducted business pretty much all through the day. I met so many awesome people from doing this, and I was so glad people seemed to enjoy my art. I took many commissions, and got to see so many cool artists as well. It makes me so happy that I did this. I felt like as the day went on I knew so many more people now because they had all stopped by my table at one point!! Afterwards I worked on my list, then went to Fish market for sushi and drinks <3
Saturaday was super busy!! I woke up early to go to the car show with
who brought along his brand new car to be part of it. It was actually really fun, and the folks were super nice. After checking out eachothers cars I noticed I was probably going to burn! Dumb dumb move on me for not putting on sun screen but hey! I packed my suit as the parade was going on shortly after. So I put on my suit and got to snap some cute photos.
Afterwards all the cars lined up to do a lap around the convention center. This was so cool~!!! I was in suit as well, and I know some folks snapped some pics and it would mean the world to me if I could find one taken of me in his car~!!
Well after that was the parade. The parade was...well. The parade. Nothing to exciting lots of waiting. The one plus was meeting up with Yoru again and walking with her, and having
debut her new Roxie suit fully completed :)
After the parade I was super busy. Had to grab a badge back from my room (double tree mind you) and somehow fit in lamination and such. But before all that I had to see him. The man. My childhood inspiration, and someone who has always impacted me even to this day; Peter S Beagle. He was there. In the dealers den, just chilling like anyone else.
...
You see, I just found out a few days prior he was going to be there. Well I figured I'd be emotional, but man it kinda just...HIT ME when I was next to him that this is the man who was responsible for such a large part of who I am today and I just...lost it. I cried so hard. Like...bawling hard. And we had a moment, and I won't repeat it because it's personal but I will always remember it. I took home a signed copy of the last unicorn graphic novel (hard back copy) and his short story book...for reasons :3
I was on cloud 9 pretty much the whole day after that. Did a bit more suiting, and work and then more drinks XD I like to balance things out...
Ah yes after that though there was the
meet up! There was only three of us there but it was every suit she had there. Squeaky is one of the sweetest folks, and I wanted to do something nice for her, so I figured this would be a cute way for her to know we appreciate her work. Myself,
and
met up and
took our photos and helped pose us wonderfully. (seriously go check out her gallery for the photos!)
It was a great experience, but I'll defiantly plan better next time XD It worked out really well though so it's okay. I enjoyed meeting everyone ^-^
Sunday was kinda chill n take it easy day. I wound back up in the alley, but a bit later than I originally aimed for. It's okay though I still met plenty of new people, and I really have to say alley is one of my favorite things to do, and I think I'll try to do it at every con I attend.
Then we got some really good Chinese food at China Inn, or something like that. IDK I keep wanting to call it China Kitchen lmao. But it was good. Free tea and fried won ton noodles with amazing home made duck sauce, super well blended ice drinks and huge portions of food all while being really well priced. I seriously recommend it to anyone wanting something a bit out of the convention area but still not a long walk (its closer to the double tree)
After food we all kinda chilled at the Zoo, I worked some more on commissions, talked with many folks including
:) So happy to finally have met him~~ It was so cool how people recognized me u//w//u so super shy but flattering at the same time.
After the zoo it was one final trip to Fish Market and then sleep. Morning would bring travel home time.
On the way back we actually ran into a few furs traveling as well x3 even one suiter spotted us! (I think my mangoisland bandanna gave me away haha) it was pretty cool. We all stopped at the Tamarack travel plaza in West Virgina and got yummy home made items, and soap. My weakness. SOAAAAAP haha :)
SO yes. kjskjgdg anthrocon was sooooo super awesome. Many awesome folks and I am so thankful to everyone who stopped by my table to say hi. Lets make next year even better!! :D
The person I am most thankful for though is my amazing sweet boyfriend
who carted me around, and fully supported everything I did, and encouraged me when I didn't believe in myself. So big thank you to him. ;w; <33
