But I compare myself to other artists all the time

This is a hard question to answer, personally no, I don't think I am.
I'm decent, at best.

Why?
It still takes ages for me to get the right composition, and poses take forever to come up with. I don't do very dynamic poses or angle (although I am practicing). I constantly change my style, and I do have anatomy errors. I can't shade to save my life. XD I can't do backgrounds either.

People may say otherwise, but I know I still have a long ass way to go.

I don't think I'm really all that skilled, and I do tend to compare myself a lot. Sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad. I know I have a lot of room for improvement, and sometimes I get depressed that I can't seem to do better, but whether I'm a good artist or not, art, in its many forms, is an integrated part of me.

i draw to relieve stress and it works. sometimes i'll compare, but really i don't care cause i draw for pleasure X3

I'm good enough to get my things done for this time.
I do compare myself to other artist ONLY because I think my style isn't defined yet. I think that's the main problem that I have right now.
I need to find my own style and maybe I'll possibly be happy.

Mmmm I don't think I'm a good artist, I still have a lot of basics to learn, like backgrounds and anatomy and all that junk, but I guess in the end there's never nothing to learn.

Lauren Faust said something along the lines of having to pretend you have a thousand crappy drawings inside of youraelf and you cant do the good ones until you practice the bad ones out of your system... Really helped me get motivated to.work harder on improving :3

I would say I am pretty horrible. Nothing is consistent and I can't do anything how I would like to.
I always compare myself negatively. Pretty much I think pessimistically about my art all the time.

its a little unavoidable. specially when i see something i like, but i have grown a little habit on not to, and it has been working, i understand not everything i do similar to others is a matter of skills but by a wide range of factors, but i do still compare myself to myself :>

Well I see myself as an okay artist and at least aknowledge that I have improved over the years, though there's things I still want to be better at
And yeah I compare myself now and then, though I try to rather get inspired by good art more than getting sad over the quality of mine compared to theirs.

I'd like to think I'm a pretty decent artist. if people say they like my art then I gotta' be doing something right..right?

I think I compare myself to others but often look up to them more, but I see myself as not too good of an artist, I think I CAN draw. and sometimes I can put out some good work, but for the most part I dont think Im good and I think I have a lot of improving to do.

But for the most part comparing myself to other artists makes me feel crappy o-o I always put myself down in my art.

I agree with some of what Rainbow said, I'm into art as a hobby, so I tend not to compare myself to others. I don't know exactly where I see myself with art and honestly I'm perfectly fine with that... I draw for fun so as long as I'm having fun I'm satisfied.

I think my art is shitty. @_@ I wanted to make a career out of it, but the lack of support from family, friends, teachers, and the online community has made me not like art that much anymore. I am trying to train myself to think of it as a hobby and to STAHP COMPARING MYSELF TO OTHERS.

Honestly, I used to think better artists could draw w/o references, but learned that I had it all backwards, so I'm trying to use them more. X3

Oh gosh, I can't stand my art. ;; Ever. I am terrible with comparing myself to others constantly but it drives me on to do better. One day, I think I will enjoy what I do but as it stands now, there is too much to improve upon to feel any sort of contentment with what I do~

i view myself as a very good and skilled artist when it comes to certain subjects and mediums, but anything outside those subjects and mediums make me feel like a horrible artist i refuse to let them see the light of day...

I feel I'm getting there. I definitely see myself much further with my skills than before. I also like to tell myself, "I can only get better". ^^

WHOOPS. As you can tell, yes, I compare myself to others.

Not very good at all. People will tell me I am, but really, I'm horrible at perspective and I can't shade to save my life. My anatomy is also jacked on top of it. That being said, I COULD be worse. But I still am not good enough by my own standards, and I constantly compare myself to others.

Well, from a student perspective, one of my teachers explained it this way, when you start out you think "I'm pretty good at this" then the more you learn about art, the worse you feel about your own, because you can't apply the knowledge to your skills as fast as you can mentally understand new concepts. Then by the time you're graduating from an art program you're thinking "Oh no, I'm not ready to be done, my art totally sucks!" Even if you've made leaps and bounds from where you started, lol. For the longest time I didn't understand it when artists that I thought were amazing would get down on themselves. Now I know that's just because I knew a whole lot less about art, and I understand and share their feels now, lol sad face. XD

I compare myself constantly to other artist. For the most part, not in a negative fashion but in a "oh wow, their technique with this is interesting/amazing". I know my weak points and what I can do to improve on them so it's more of an inspirational kinda think for the most part I guess. Oh unless I come across a 15 year old that draws way beyond than anything I could hope/expect. Then I haz the sad.
