[01] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
I despise political correctness. Bring it on.
[02] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
I don't use drugs. I like my brain cells the way they are, thanks.
[03] Abortion: for or against it?
Pro choice, if only to save potential children the agony of growing up handicapped or perpetually sick or in broken/abusive homes.
[04] Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
Gender has little to do with it at this point. What WILL fail is another president in office who perpetuates the same corrupt, self serving agenda that has been the mantra of almost every administration in the last 40 years or so. What we NEED is a president who will actually use his/her time in office to fix what needs fixing, rather than lining his or her own pockets and leaving an even bigger mess for the next president to clean up.
[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
I believe the punishment should fit the crime. If some kid shoplifts from a store, he gets some time in a cell and does some community service. If a psychopath tortures, rapes and murders another person, then a less than pleasant death should be the consequence. I guarantee you, if the justice system punished criminals with the old "eye for an eye" rule, there would be a hell of a lot less violent crime.
[06] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
I don't use it, but there is some validity to the idea of legalizing it, especially from a federal revenue standpoint. Though I'd say follow it up by outlawing cigarettes in its place.
[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
I'm ambivalent about it. I think that the taboo against it is the single most powerful agent in assuring its continued prevalence. If children are taught about the biological and cultural meaning of sex (premarital or otherwise) at a reasonably early age--say, around puberty or shortly before--and it is not touted as some mortal sin, they will be more likely to wait longer before trying it out.
[08] Do you believe in God?
In a roundabout way, yes.
[09] Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
I think that while the concept of marriage is romantic and poignant, the practice is somewhat impractical. As far as same sex, the whole moral debate is a farce. It's little more than religious discrimination against homosexuals that is thinly disguised as a legislative dispute. The fact that the courts are allowing the circus to go on speaks volumes of how corrupt and easy to influence the justice system has become. This country was founded on the concept of freedom from religious persecution; if homosexuals follow a creed that acknowledges or is indifferent to same sex marriage, then no other religious faction has the right to deny them the freedom to pursue that belief or the matrimony that it entitles them.
[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
Illegal immigrants in general are a tremendous problem, Hispanics notwithstanding. The race isn't as important as the failure to follow the proper channels to come here. We need to eliminate income tax, which is one of the largest points of contention regarding illegals, and replace it with a flat tax. That way, everyone here pays taxes based on what they consume, not based on citizenship.
[11] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
No. A child does not have the maturity, the responsibility, or the financial capability to raise another child.
[12] Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
That would only serve to lower the age at which kids started drinking illegally. Rather pointless. Then again, the axiom "old enough to die for your country, old enough to drink" does have a measure of reason to it.
[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
The war is bullshit, as is nearly every word that has escaped Bush's lips since his first term in office. I say call back ALL of the troops, force the automotive and energy industries to convert to completely green technology, and place a trade embargo on the entire Middle East/OPEC, Venezuela, and any other country that has expressed anti-American sentiment in the last 20 years. We can supply enough of our own oil to keep ourselves running until the conversion is complete, and afterward we won't need the oil anyway.
[14] Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
For the record, I think suicide is the act of a coward. However, in cases where the individual is suffering, extremely handicapped or otherwise miserable to an outlandish degree, I can see it being used for humane purposes. In that light, I'd say it should only be illegal to do it yourself. Euthanasia should be handled by medical professionals, so as not to pose inadvertent danger to others and assure a painless and effective application.
[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
I believe in corporal punishment when administered appropriately. Excessive and/or unnecessary spanking is no better than abuse. But the old phrase "spare the rod, spoil the child" is very true. One only needs to look around at our current society, with almost two full generations of people who accept no personal accountability for their actions and blame their problems and faults on everyone else. This is the result of some imbecilic "expert" claiming that corporal punishment "damages the children's fragile self esteem". I am living proof that whoever said that is a fucking idiot. I got spankings (in moderation) until I was almost 13 years old, and I have more confidence and self esteem than everyone I know put together.
Hey experts! Stick THAT up your flaccid assholes!
[16] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
It's a flag. I can buy a new one. Gimme the money. :) Seriously though, the appropriate way of disposing of an American flag that has gotten too worn or tattered for use is to burn it. So technically, I could say that I was retiring an old flag to make way for a new one... and laugh my way to the bank.
[17] Who do you think would make a better president? McCain or Obama?
Neither. We do not need another partisan president in office. The Bipartisan system in this country is long overdue for a pruning. We need voters to put more faith in the less recognized parties that dwell in the coveted middle ground between the Left and the Right. Libertarians, Centrists, and their counterparts all deserve a better chance to show this country what they can do. Especially Centrists. We've had this political tug-of-war going on for decades... wouldn't it be nice to have someone who was actually a proponent of balance between the two extremes?
I'm a Centrist. Vote for me.
[18] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
Anyone who reads this can judge all they want. I fear no man's opinion. I'm entitled to my views, just as they are entitled to theirs. One of the best things about opinions is that no one is required to agree with them. Inversely, I don't have to give a rat's ass about anyone's judgment of me.
To quote Alexander Hamilton, "I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
I despise political correctness. Bring it on.
