I figured out the iTunes "not authorized to play" problem
12 years ago
This is for any one that uses iTunes to download music.
Have you ever gotten the error saying that only certain songs aren't authorized to play on your computer, and no matter how many times you log in it still doesn't work?
I figured out the problem, apple is always adding more copyright restrictions with every update and they're trying to make the cloud service work better. with one of the last updates, each song has multiple files: the song itself and the unlock files. the problem is the unlock files don't always download at about a 1 in 10 fail rate. to fix this you'll have to delete the songs that don't work and re-download them.
I like the iTunes store layout and the players organization which is the only reason why I still use them, but this copyright stuff is getting out of hand!
- A little hint, to find the songs that are locked out, bring up all of your music and add the sort option "kind" and look for the files that are "AAC audio file" kind that were downloaded from iTunes (not ripped from a CD), delete them, then go click the sort by cloud status option, and click the cloud icon on each song to re-download it.
