Color Conundrum.

Turns out that my laptop really REALLY displays color different than my regular monitor.,, I do most all my coloring on my laptop as its a TabletPC, but I'll probably have to end up adjusting stuff on my desktop.
My latest pic is a good example of the problem.

The upper part is the original, the lower is after I tweaked it on my desktop to match my laptop's.
I'm worrying that either my coloring might be coming across wrong, or people might be prefering the more washed out versions x3. Lemme know which you like better

Stuff was a bit too... dark when viewed with a CRT screen. :( But I passed.
I've had this issue too- not sure what the pic will look like on other comps. Enh!
Shouldn't be a problem though.. I mean, the difference is so miniscule.
I switched from a standard CRT (tube) moniter to a 2 foot LCD beauty... The problem is that no matter how many times I run through color management or install new profiles, everything I make on the LCD looks way darker, and greenish everywhere else. Not only that, but photoshop doesn't mix well with the profile, and my greyscale blacks are purplish... Yet my RGB blacks are closer to normal.. and I'm just getting warmed up.
Color management hurts my brain!
It's doubly damning for you too, because you're a colorist, right?
If you find a working solution for your problem, let us know. Might help me too. ^^;
I had to wonder - does my stuff look at all odd on CRTs? The best I can do with PowerStrip is lower the gamma to get deep blacks.
The top one has a softer, more relaxed feel to it, and carries a subtle glow.
The bottom one has a more intense sensation to it, but the reds come out to be a bit too strong.
For the record, I'm on a 17" CRT.
Well, it looks like both images have equal RED channel percentages.
But the image on the top has +%10 in the GREEN and BLUE channels (bringing the color closer to white, thus being more washed out.
If you have photoshop, go to the channels pallette and reduce opacity in the GREEN & BLUE channels by %10 to compensate. Doing this will make the top image closer to what the bottom image looks like.

Read through the Calibration section. It's very helpful in understanding why things are happening and how to fix them. Helped me a lot.
