Anyone ever make you feel... Misunderstood

Seriously... i felt like i was in a room full of ... not going to say the word... but lets put it this way... mind broken people the other day. they made me feel so bad because i knew they were better than that and yet they still insisted on acting like it. serously, am i alone here?
I feel/felt it constantly in school. You meet some of these guys outside the walls, they're cool, smart people.
Inside? pfft.
