Fair enough point, but if what Jaleo said is true, then Jaleo was not a dick when he asked the thread to be taken down. Check for yourself; your admin published his email, which had been nothing but polite. Unless there was other correspondence that has not been published in which Jaleo was, himself, being a dick to your administrator, then your admin's very dickish behavior toward him was unwarranted.

Also a fair enough point about Fchan. I love blue, but they could use a little redesign. XD

I will reserve judgment for if and when the other supposed emails come to light. I'm not saying that Jaleo did something wrong, but I have a feeling that there is something else we aren't seeing here. U18Chan doesn't typically make this big of a fuss over Takedown requests, so I find this situation a bit odd given the current info. I base my current position based on the past, and cannot account for the future.

You would be wise to remove association from this event until all the facts are present. You have more to lose from the negative publicity of supporting someone without knowing exactly what they've said since you have a web presence under that name.

Maybe. Of course, if asked, I'm sure your admin would be glad to reveal any correspondence that may show Jaleo to be at fault and clear his own name. In fact, if he went so far as to publish that polite email from Jaleo, I don't see why he wouldnt publish evidence of Jaleo being a douche with it. That he would hide such correspondence when his own name is involved in this would make no sense at all. With no disrespect intended, and with awareness of the chance that I could be wrong, I don't believe there was any such correspondence and I doubt your investigation into that aspect of this will take very long.

As mentioned, I do not intend to drag this out further today, directly with you guys, nor do I intend to start virtual riots. That said, what I said stands; until I hear that this is resolved and those friendly policies you described are truly in effect I'll be letting people know about this situation, not merely in support of Jaleo but of artists in general.

And while I appreciate your apparent concern for me, I won't lose a thing by doing that.

You seem to at least give a bit of a crap about the people who use U18chan or have their work posted there, unlike your admin. I urge you to investigate this fairly.

Oh--and might I add that that lovely little gem he stuck on U18chan's pages calling me and others involved "faggots" and making more fun of Jaleo's art will also do wonders for his case, I'm sure.

Welcome to the Internet. Although in the emails it shows that Jaleo wasn't being disrespectful. I'd say the Admin is being disrespectful but, hey, it's the internet. I've seen a lot worse done to a lot better people. Once again, I just love watching Internet folk fight, and occasionally offering some commentary.

Yes, it's the Internet, and I'm aware that people do stuff like this, but I myself have been a site admin. Surely you'd agree that someone who's a LEADER of the place shouldn't behave that way to people. That was beyond just disrespect--he openly mocked an artist just because he wanted a say in what happened to his own work. There's currently a message on your site calling people faggots and AGAIN mocking this artist. All he seems to do is cuss at people and use homophobic slurs (yes, I'm aware he this is the first time he's done that with relation to this situation, but he still did it) and talk about how bad he thinks this artist is. Meanwhile, I don't see any Mona Lisas around the Internet from an anon123-whatever.

While you don't seem to be one to go around kissing peoples butts, you yourself seem to hold some degree of courtesy and professionalism. It doesn't matter in what capacity--"Hey, it's the Internet" is not an excuse for this kind of behavior from ANYONE, let alone someone who's supposed to be a leader. Do you think people want to support a site like that? Even FA, though I think it's made improvements, still has people leaving because they feel the folks in charge have done things that are a lot less atrocious than this guy has, finding homes on sites like InkBunny, SoFurry, and the up-and-coming Weasyl. It's the Internet, yes, but on successful sites, how often do you see administrators or even moderators getting away with things like that?

I don't mean to tell you how to do your job, but is this not the kind of thing that leaders are supposed to try to diffuse peacefully, and not instigate? You say you've seen worse done to better people. Is this what you want at your site? Is this the kind of reputation you really want at U18chan? Does "Hey, it's the Internet" justify that?

If your admin had said "Sorry, we're not removing it," and left it alone, yeah, that would have been frowned upon, but it was the admin's horrible reaction that caused all of this, that caused Jaleo, myself, and those either of us have shown this to to become upset, and caused all of this to be much bigger than it needed to be. It may be the Internet but it's still people that we're all talking to, and just because you see someone treat someone badly elsewhere does not make it right.

I would have to equate U18-chan as the /b/ of the furry world, and I'm perfectly okay with that. I enjoy watching people fight, especially on the internet. It shows humanity at its most raw, when they think no one knows who they are. I might just be considered a special kind of sadist, and I wouldn't expect anyone else to understand my motivations. In fact, most would call me a terrible person, and I'm okay with that too.

So I wouldn't refer to him as MY admin. I hold no allegiance to either side. I simply took up the side that seemed to be promoting the most conflict. I care how both sides feel, just not in an empathetic way. I'm just a guy that likes to watch people fight on the internet, and throw some commentary in from time to time. I'm also done here, so best of luck with the rest of your life or whatever. It's been fun, but I'm on to my next adventure.

Then I'll continue as I was, and continue to spread the word NOT to support your website. Will it make a dent? Who knows? Probably not, but I'll do what I can to keep folks from falling in line with a sorry excuse for an admin like yours (Yes, he is your admin, he's an admin on your site) and a leader like that doesn't care what happens to people on his site, as long as their anger and frustration provides him with some twisted form of entertainment.

NotLukos, just let it be and ignore them, they aren't worth your time :) Let em be happy posting bullshit and nosense stuff, in a week they will forget all this and move on.
